Suppose I start a song lyrics site. Whenever I add lyrics of a song , it is possible someone had already posted it on his site. This will cause duplicate content. How to avoid this ?

lyrics are not part of the "duplicate content" hysteria, mate. What are you gonna do: rewrite the lyrics? Spin them?? LOL

Just post them safely on your blogs cause it's in their nature to be used as duplicate content. But I don't think this is a very profitable niche (just an assumption)

There's no way to avoid this unless you post the lyrics of relatively unknown songs.

I will change the song so lyrics will change. Lol
Lyrics of song always be same
So it's duplicate content always

The best solution is to start a blog with losts of post I mean a lot.
Google will index them upon first crawl. Since you gonna have lot of contents it will continue to Index it as long as you keep adding posts.
For example a job posting site.
So you will avoid duplicate content problem.
The real problem is getting traffic. You will have to find it outside of Google search.

There is nothing much to do with the lyrics since we can't change them.
In addition to it, you can add some content about the song or the lyricist.
I hope this could be useful.

post them as image
This actually works.
I have seen blogs ranking with lots of screenshots of specs, features, etc directly from the sales/product page. Save you from copying content and giving great value to the customers. Keeping google algo and readers happy, a win-win situation.

I have seen many such sites using youtube videos with lyrics.

I post specs right from the manufacturer page as text, regardless of that I still rank high. You don't have to screenshot it.

Of course you cannot change the lyrics to make them unique, yet you can do a bunch of things to make your page more unique. First things that came to my mind are: add some original content (a decent paragraph) about the artist or the music genre the song is about, add structured data (dig into schema.org Thing > CreativeWork > MusicComposition and you'll find the right ones), give the users te possibility to add ugc, like ratings, comments, etc.

When did you did this last time with a new site?

I do it every time. I don't build sites on fresh domains though, I always use strong domains with a history. However, I don't think duplicate content such as specifications matters at all.

If you're in a niche where content is pretty much assumed to be copied, there's still a lot you can do about it.

Sure, you can run a song lyrics website, but you don't have to resign yourself to the fact that other people beat you to it.

After all, if you're just copying and pasting lyrics from one website to your site, that is in keeping with the nature of your niche.

But there is a workaround to this.

You can add commentary.

You can also source videos from YouTube related to the song.

There are so many things you can do.

Here's the secret to lyrics type websites or any other site using derivative content for that matter: add value.

That value may be as shallow as community participation or giving people a chance to get information from what other people say about that piece of content, but you have to add some sort of perceived value.

This is not only going to help you make your websites stand out from the competition, but it can also prevent legal problems later on.

Please understand that, under international copyright law, you can publish somebody else's copyrighted work, provided it falls under one of several exceptions covered by the law.

You can provide this content as a type of news.

You can add commentary to it.

You can review it.

There are so many things you can do.

What's important is you add value.

The songs are usually duplicate content. Just post them as an image.
Those types of blogs are only meant for real traffic purpose.
