So I've been seeing these posts on Instagram, where a celebrity/influencer will post that you need to follow 20-50 pages to be eligible for a giveaway worth $1-50k (anything really, depends on the people involved).

From what I see, they setup a page + website. Contact celebrities/influencers and draw up a contract with them - pay them, and have them post to follow a set number of pages.

How they make money? People buy follow spots.

An example of this is: https://www.instagram.com/p/CUC7-5Ts9mq/

That giveaway account follows 43 people, and the guy is selling spots for $579. That means he made $579 x 43 = $24,897 from the campaign.

He obviously has to pay off the celeb/influencer and purchase the prizes. But a 10 second calculation says he earned $10k+

Its not about making money.. The way it works is that the X number of people you have to follow rolls into the number of prizes you can win, so the number of followers each person gets is large enough that the cost you put into the % prize pays for itself. It's hard to find a better way to get so many followers for such a small price.

Where did you get this info
On his website - giveawaymedia dot co dot za (.co.za)

In fact I bought one, he told me he should have marked the item as sold out, he refunded me.

emm interesting where you got such spot rates, thats super strange

What do you mean it's not about making money? The guy is clearly making money.

The idea here is not the rate per se, it's the method. You can start small, quite small. In fact his website alludes to that.

At least in my country it works like this: an agency (in this case this man) creates contest X, collects influencers who pay (they are willing to do it knowing how much follow they can get) for some of the prizes so in the end this money is often not earned by the agency but covers the cost of the prizes. In my country, these prizes are worth a lot, and in addition, if X influencers participate in it, the reach is huge and grow follow is very large.

Oh, that's a totally different method. We're talking about different things here.

This is about people actually paying the agency (the guy) to buy a follow spot. The people don't gain money, rather - followers and exposure. In the OPs instance he guarantees 15-30k followers based on different variables, and I see the veracity of his claim.

In view of BHW it's avery good money making method, secondary to this it's an excellent way for someone to grow their followers (you can even setup new pages and gain 30k organic/real followers in a week or 2, rinse and repeat).

It's amazing method although it a working system since last two years now,Elon musk makes names with this logic

From what I have seen, people may get 30k more followers, but slowly maybe 10k of them unfollow

I have seen this a lot on Telegram communities. It's kinda like a mega but instead of hundreds of accounts posting the same promo, it's just the celebrity with a big active following

With the same amount of money on ads, you don't even get 1/3 of those followers.

That's what the OP is saying too.

it's dead growth though. these people will never interact with your posts
You're tripping son. People won't interact with your content if you've got "dead" content.

It depends, are you going for tier 1 countries yes, but are you going for tier 3 countries and doesn't care you might get close to the same amount of followers

I live in South Africa. I can vouch for those numbers having spent a lot on ads.
