Nah. I might do something like that in the future. For now I just directly promote products.
Google is now sending me about 40 hits a day and growing. So just by adding affiliate product links to my posts I did 2 sales already. I will start with some Facebook advertising and paid/free backlinks soon. I considered the last few months a slow test and I'm certain now this is the way to go.
I want to go full in!
That's all I will answer for now. Again, I will be back later this week to reply more detailed.

5 months now with 40 hits a day is a bit slow, check your KWs strategy and On-Page SEO

I will explain how I created a different site (same strategy) after this post. There was quite some delay. Scrap a month or 2. And targeting a smallish country. Not the US, like I was going to. So there simply will be less traffic eventually.

you can use WP Automatic, but you'll need a paid plan with DeepL to get access to the APIInteresting journey, following as I've started doing the same thing (translating EN articles to FR with Deepl)

So I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I'll answer any questions in the coming days.
Keep in mind I'm not doing anything special here. I have no secret formula. It's just a standard blog.
So after my first post I quickly encountered a problem I underestimated. It was soon clear that I would run out of articles to translate quickly. It's a tech blog but in a certain niche.
After a short while I decided to switch things around. I'm going to build a site in my native language and get articles from an huge supply of English sites. This gave me so much more options! Instead of really having to search for articles I can now find 50 different ones for just 1 product. Problem solved.
Then I figured I'm going to test a few different niches and sites and see what works. Keep in mind I run many sites and this is just one side project and I'm not in a hurry so everything took it's time
So with the tech site as the "main" site I also picked a few different niches and created some sites and translated a bunch of articles.
By now we're a few months from my first post. It was clear by now that the tech site was most liked by Google and just as important, by me.
The other niches had no personal attachment. And I think Google and visitors will notice that. I just translated the content and didn't add or change anything. While with the tech site I add and change quite a lot and put a personal spin on it.
I let the other test sites go and went full in with this main site now. So just to be clear, from English translated content to my native language. A smallish Euro country. But obviously anything goes. From any language to any language. Just don't make the mistake I made. Make sure you have enough articles first.
My setup
I installed the desktop app from DeepL. Huge time saver. DeepL rocks and is IMO way better than Google translate.
When looking for my next article I see what Google brings up. I usually avoid the first few listings are those are often really big sites and I don't feel comfortable ripping their content. I look for smaller sites that still rank relatively high. Which means their content is good.
If a lot of sites pop up and they have similar topics I might mix 2 or 3 articles.
80% of my site are product reviews. 20 tutorials/info and other non-ads pages.
I'm at 1000 pageviews a day now and roughly 40 hits from Google. And it seems to grow steadily.
I don't add a ton of articles. Sometimes 2 a day, sometimes none a day. Some articles are big, some are small. It just looks and feels organic.
As I am actually interested in this niche I often find myself making the translated article better or adding stuff that I felt was missing.
Not too long ago and I started adding some sponsored links here and there and that resulted in 2 sales so far. Quite big sales but I'm only getting a small %. But not too bad so quickly with such little traffic.
I only just recently started working on some backlinks. I'm just mailing some similar niche sites for a link exchange.
By now I'm sure Google considers my site original content. I did some test articles with small products that have very little to no competition and it got me some #1 positions. It brings only a few clicks a day but it works. I'm quite sure I can rank bigger products with more competition once I get some pagerank going.
What I suggest you do not: Take some random niche content, dump it in Google translate and copy and paste it to your site. It might trick Google but you won't get returning visitors. They will notice.
I spend time and energy going through the translated content and make it mine. Sometimes that means changing 3 words, sometimes 10 sentences.
I make it look nice. For an outsider it's a nice healthly blog with good writing. Good reviews and nice info. They have no reason to suspect it's translated. And that's key! I think...
Recently I started adding automatic translations through a DeepL API for a few others languages (copies of the original page) and Google seems to pick it up. I know this right away contradicts what I just said. But again, I'm considering it a test and I won't rely on those visitors. It's fully automated and will have reading errors. But DeepL is REALLY good. So it might not be too bad.
But for the main language I will scan and improve every translated text.
That's it for now. Nothing special. No secrets. But I warned you right away...it won't be too interesting haha.

I've done this a few times already and success is inevitable. It really depends on what you are after.
Originally, I was translating articles in the hopes that one day I'll be making money from Adsense. After the site got some traction ( 3 months ), I was getting around 200 organics per day. I've sold all of them as starter websites for a little more than $1,000 each
After I did the math, it paid exactly what a 15$/hour job would pay. In other words, I got paid for writing articles.
But the technique works. On one of the websites I sold, I didn't even bother tweaking the articles. I was even using the same images, videos, linking out, EVERYTHING, and I was still ranking.
I'm still doing such tests from time to time. Whenever I have free time, I put articles on new websites, and eventually I'll sell them.
Just my opinion, but I truly believe that if one would stick with such a website for more than 1 year, so the website gains some authority, you can start ranking "best XXX produce" articles way better and without much SEO effort. Or even get better rankings for informational articles and earn decently from ads, like ezoic.
This is not some make money fast method, as there is work to be done daily. But if you lack a decent-paying job, this does the trick.
I'm willing to be a 20ML nicotine shot that you can get such sites in the 700-1000$/month earnings in the long run, if you look at it as investments. The year returns will be 10x better than investing in stocks.
It's not going to get you money overnight though. At least not how I see it. But it will bring you money.

Sure!
Things are going nicely. The site keeps on growing and so far it seems that as long as I keep adding articles that Google will keep sending me traffic.
Google lists me for a ridiculous amounts of keywords by now. But the CTR wasn't that good, obviously because I'm a new site and have many keywords on page 10 or so. But yesterday it suddenly improved quite a lot. I went from 2.5 to 4% CTR.
And average position jumped from 27 to 22 or so. So clearly the CTR will keep getting better as my positions will get better. I'm aiming at a 6% CTR or higher. Which should be no problem.
The last 2 days I had roughly 70/80 clicks according to Analytics. Pretty much all organic. Just a few of my own clicks. Search Console showed 60 clicks. The screenshot says 52 but Google search video and picture traffic is also growing.
The pictures on my site got 1K impression yesterday, with a few clicks. Videos 100 impression with a few clicks as well.
I did another sale as well. It's exciting getting sales notifications because people can buy tons of different products where I send them. So they might pick up something small or something costing 2000 euros.
With the way things are going I think I have no problem getting daily sales within a few months.
Also nice to see is that I'm getting natural backlinks. I did a few link exchanges but I also got a few links to my articles or site in general. Simply because they liked what they saw I assume.
So yeah, it's going well. I enjoy doing it. And by the looks of it Google really likes what I'm doing.
This week I will work on my socials a bit more. Trying to slowly grow Twitter, Facebook. The usual. Again, no secrets or special tips here.
Oh and over the weeks I spent quite some time on my Pagespeed score. Which is roughly 90% for both mobile and desktop now.

I like what you're saying. I think you're pretty much spot on.
It takes time indeed. But what site doesn't really.
I'm lucky to be in a position to have time and not having to depend on just this site. Someone just starting out with no income will have a rough time growing these sites.
If you're going this route then I guess go full in from the start. Create 10 such sites and spend 8 or 10 hours a day on it. You WILL be rewarded if you do it right.
Selling them after a while is an option, as you explained. But I personally have no intention selling this specific site. It's doing too well haha. I think I can make it an authority site and make good money with.

Just 0 to 2 articles a day. Although I want to start pushing it a bit more. I'm thinking about 2 articles a day from now. I became really fast at it so why not
It's amazing how much faster the whole find an article - translate - proof read - design has become. It will be slow from the start but I can whip out articles in no time now.
I personally am pushing products at the moment. As in Amazon or something similar. I have no idea what something like Adsense would do on my site. I will experiment with it in the future when I have more traffic. I don't think it's worth it now.
I can't tell you what's better though. Depends on your niche, traffic, design and so on.

It is always good to translate your content in various languages. Bonus: if the content is translated correctly in the foreign language - you're doing it properly.
