Do Domain Registrars do This?

So I had two open windows on a particular registrar, as I was waiting for 2 LLLL.com domains to become available. The moment it happened, the registrar, who is a big name in the industry, took forever to refresh the screen, and then it timed out and went to this bullshit:

Of course, both domains are now purchased by the same person (my guess is them, but I cannot confirm).
Do domain registrars undercut people for what they feel are premium domains, or could this be a very interesting coincidence?

Actually, screw it.. It's namecheap.

And now, they are showing this:

Sometimes, there are bigger a**holes than others. Namecheap was the good guy before it went batsh!t crazy and start acting Godaddy.

Happened recently found simple domain shown available in domain search

went to buy from domain registrar it started showing "error" on available or taken column

After few minutes its marked as premium/taken

This sadly has happened to me for many years. I found some amazing buyer intent EMDs only for GoDaddy to rob me.

Very disheartening when it happens.

But that's why you find any way to screw those companies when you can.

Godaddy and Namecheap do this. I think their own staff buy these domains and put them in auction or make them premium. I avoid them both and currently using Porkbun without any issues.

Damn such a short thread so many bullshit. Yeah namecheap went out in maintenance mode to prevent YOU from getting 2 domains. For fuck sake, learn a bit about backordering and how it works. The times when you was able to get domains by manually refreshing are long, long gone.

Not sure on Namecheap but GoDaddy have been doing this since a long time

I dont know, but I think its called backorder domain service. The service is attempt to take its at <1 sec when the domain is public.

I haven't faced domain stealing when using Namecheap but there are other options too but GoDaddy no chance

Probably would depend on the domain. Some domains are easily worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and more. They knew what I was looking for. I know you want to shrug it off and say that it's not possible or whatever, but I don't know. It just seemed too perfect of a job at really coincidental timing.

If you think that there is even remote possibility to manually register a domain that is worth even an 1K you are out of your mind. Like I said read what backorder is and how it works. The resistance is futile - servers are making millions of requests per second using hundreds of registers (dropcatch have 500+ registrars) and you think some of the biggest registrars on the planet went in maintenance mode because you wanted a domain? Common dude.

My thoughts exactly, I don't see a reputable company like Namecheap offing their service because of few previous domains. it's very likely a coincidence. these domains have been back-ordered.
