[Journey] Ranking A Site That Uses AI Generated Content

Do you monetize your website or you are waiting for more traffic? How much traffic you are getting after 4-5 months?

Great Journey. You mentioned that you monetized the site, so how much revenue have you generated so far?

@warriorsam53 Wonderful journey! When you say you are targeting keywords with no competition, are these KWs zero search volume keywords(at least from the data that tools like AHrefs, Semrush give us)? I believe competition would have already written about keywords with even very low volumes in the ranges of 10-30.

Did you apply to ezoic after you setup the site with al content and they accepted or?
I’ve been using Ezoic ads for a while now. This is just one of the sites I added. This is not the site I used to get approved if that’s what you’re asking.

The site is monetized. I’m getting between 4-5000 pv a month. Not much has changed since the last update.

Yes the site is monetized. This journey isn’t about any sort of earnings goal so I don’t really talk about the earnings. Its more about getting traffic with AI content.

I haven’t really checked the volume on any of the tools. I find them manually. There are billions of keywords so it’s impossible that they’re all covered.

Also, based on the sites I see, most people are focused on making Amazon affiliate sites. They usually target “buyer intent“ keywords and look for volume info from the tools. They don‘t usually go for low volume info keywords.
Good thread @warriorsam53 Have you been able to monetize the blog? Any numbers?

Thanks for the answer @warriorsam53! Assuming there's a low-volume keyword with one or two competitors providing a great answer, would you go for it? Just trying to understand how you pick keywords based on SERPs

I have to see the competitors to be sure but it’s very unlikely that I’ll go for it. There are so many keywords available. Why compete with others?

Instead of wasting money on links to beat competitors, I prefer to publish more content.

Also, how do you know that the keyword you checked is low volume?

The volume check was just using data from tools, which I understand could be really off. Also, is 100-300 words/article good enough to see them rise to the top(though it might have no competition at all)? I was of the assumption that no matter the competition, every article on a new site had to have at least 500+ words to rank

In my experience, it's 100-300 words is enough. Just stick to the topic and don't write anything else that doesn't directly relate to the question.

The 500+ word thing is bullshit. There are some who'll say 1000+, 2500+, 5000+ etc. Currently, I'm generating over 200,000 pageviews from posts that are less than 300 words each. One of the sites that gets around 50,000 PV probably has less than 50 words in each post.

However, the downside to this is that the ad revenue sucks. Long form content will definitely make more money per page. So that's a decision you'll have to make. I have a mix of both.

Agree. Short content can rank too. People write long for search engines (hoping to rank for more kw) and for display ads (hoping to stuff more ads) .

Yeah. I do that too. It's just to stuff ads.

Recipe sites are an extreme example of this. They write thousands of words of useless fluff and made up life stories just for ad impressions.

@warriorsam53 Great! So, when you answer the question right in the snippet, are people clicking through? How has the CTR been? And you had mentioned that you put the answer target in the second paragraph. Does putting it right after the H1 work too? And do you use an H2 before the answer target

As per search search console, CTR is 3%. Not sure how good or bad that is. For the kind of questions I'm answering, I don't see why anyone would need to visit the site if they get the answer from the snippet. lol. But I'm happy they are.

I put the answer in the second para because I follow the Income School method. That's what they recommend. I don't see why it wouldn't work when it's immediately after the page title. I don't use any H2 anywhere for this specific site. It's just intro, answer, image and conclusion.
