I think you've seen to much movies, i setup my vps in late april, i barely login each month. If you setup the vps corectly, you have no worries. My website had no downtime so far.

No you don't touch the db settings of a live site lol. These settings can be automated using something like docker, anyway.

That's the thing - these days with cloud panels you don't even have to learn linux.
You just give them an IP and SSH keys and its done for you. With a good VPS and $8 for cloud panel it still comes out to be cheaper than high end hosting

When I tried WPX for 2 months it was a nightmare for my sites mobile loading time, it was around 6 seconds and they had no idea why. Before I switched from Namecheap it was 2 seconds, funny thing was I followed their advice with every setting then I hired a speed optimization expert and they couldn't fix it either so I had to switch to another hosting.

Agreed it doesn't need linux knowledge. For example those 1 click wp installers are quick and simple to install. But the problem comes when the servers need some fix, or for stuffs like load balancers or for migrating to another vps. It's a good idea to learn linux regardless.

Wpx is still down. That's why I ignore popular hosting sites. They are extremely crowded. Cloudways with Vultr HF servers is my favourite.

I use runcloud.io and I have had no problems with them (yet!)
That have a very basic free plan to - good to start with that if you are testing waters.
