What is your experience with YouTube shorts??

yeah not at all. my short with > 1 million views that now gets mostly browse and suggested (traffic source graph is shown in a prior post) has only generated around 7 dollars of ad revenue. even if people see it in the normal, non shorts, view, you won't get as many ads. something else interesting i forgot to mention @f.randell23 is the device type. 99.8% of the views are on mobile, even if they are from browse and suggested. i have never seen anyone mention this before. the computer and other views are from search i would imagine. sorry again for removing information. also it has had just 2,750 ad impressions. a tiny fraction of the views.

Don't trouble yourself, that is exactly the way it is for everybody. I hope Youtube will do something about Ads on shorts soon.

yeah i don't mind at all. theres something strange going on with youtube rpm currently (pic related) that may be short related so i'm hoping it is a sign that change is coming soon.

thank you its a big moment since that is 4x my previous hourly high. as i mentioned earlier in the thread, "gaming tips" i'd call it. stuff like this, but adapted for short form content.

Shorts are working really good for me(gaming niche). Im still testing some stuff but overall i get a decent amount of views and subs from these shorts(1-4k views. Not much but its a bew channel)

I do mixed, although now im uploading only shorts since i don't have any ideas and time for guides and videos(streaming on twitch). I play battle royales and get some cool kills or funny clips and upload them as shorts.

thats cool, im glad you're having some success with that! shorts can be great for promoting your other videos as well as other social channels, especially twitch. shorts are a great opportunity so use them while you can : )

Does the upload frequency affect whether the shorts take off?
When I make 15 shorts a day for a one channel, even a week later, from those 15 will take off at best 1-3 shorts
Can quantity affect the fact that the majority does not take off?
I tried different meta, niches, but nothing work

Just started using shorts too. Takes a little time to get the videos done. Did 10 in the last couple of days but one video already has over 500 views. Not sure if it's going to convert for me at all but we'll see. I like the shorts personally. Can do anything from 10 secs to a minute. Like anything else it requires some work and you can't just put up garbage but it's an untapped space if you ask me and I figured it couldn't hurt to throw up about 30 vids (that's my goal) and see what it does.

1. Don’t make long tittle, short tittle is better for shorts
2. Use 1-2 emoji in tittle
3. Descriptions and tags dont matter
4. Quantity over quality in a new channel

Hi if watch time from all the shorts videos do not count towards the required 4000 hours for monetization, then how do a short creator monetize his channel? other than mixing in non-shorts videos ?

YouTube sometimes disables the ability to comment on videos for no reason, just go to the video settings and open them again, this is just a bug.
As for the shorts - not all shorts take off well, not all shorts take off at least somehow, not one of a dozen loaded even for 10 views may take off, and this will still be within the normal range, this is how it works. If it does not take off more - something is wrong, usually the problem is in the same names, each short must have a unique name.
