It's better to manually check the backlink using ahref
Becareful on DA or DR, there are many spam trick like google reddirect that massively increase DA without any good link
If the top link have good website or many DR 40+ backlink, then I will trust it
Coupon web backlink (Unless you have coupon web), site info backlink, scrapper backlink is useless

Take a look at the site matrics, like DA PA DR Spam score.
and of course the kw the site is rank for.

check these things:
- RDs (Referring Domains).... this means how many domain names are linking to the website that you want backlink from. If it's 1000s or millions of RDs it's good, but sometimes only a few hundreds of RDs could work, too. You have to decide this on yourself based on what the other metrics are (if they're good, you can go with fewer RDs), how competitive the keywords you are trying to rank for are, etc...
- DA.... obviously that the higher this metric is for the website you want to get backlink from the better the backlink will be because it will pass more link juice over to your site, thus increasing your site's DA
- traffic.... if the website you are trying to get backlink from gets 1000s of visitors per day (or even per week) it's a good backlink opportunity.
- clean website (the website is NOT, or has never been pharmaceuticals, drugs, hate / racism, violence, gambling, casino, porn, weapons, asian). Basically, everything that's risky, shady, damaging, or asian is bad in google's eyes. And don't ask me why google considers asian websites bad because I've no idea about world politics, but know that it's usually bad.
Basically, if these 4 things are OK the backlink should be good enough, too....

personally, I do this for any new backlinks: I test it out! i pick a keyword, go to page 7 or 8 in google serp, pick a site that I can tell is not doing any kind of seo. create a backlink to it. if it improves in serp, then it is of a good quality and I introduce it in my ecosystem!

Quality of a backlink itself depends on the quality of backlinks it has.
The quantity (RD) and quality of sites linking to your backlink website.
The anchors & OBL of your backlink site and sites linking to it.
If you have access to ahrefs or semrush you can do do this easily in much less time.

I assume, that quality of back link always depends on the source quality. Today that could be a good source, but after next SE update that can be completely different.
So that worth to check, but keep on searching for new and new places.

I'll share some ways below:
- Using Ahrefs, check whether the backlink is coming from a high DR or low DR referring domain... high DR means higher quality backlink
- Is the referring domain having the same niche as that of your page content to which backlink is directed? if not, low quality.
- Visit the referring domain page where backlink is posted, is the backlink within real quality content? if yes, good.. if the hyperlink is among random giberish.. bad
- if the referring domain is part of a PBN and you had the same backlink from same duplicate articles pointing from multiple PBN domains, that is spam, bad quality backlinks
- Check where the backlink was posted in referring domain's website... content, blog comments, footer, sidebar... content links are of highest quality
- Using Ahrefs, check whether the backlink is coming from a high DR or low DR referring domain... high DR means higher quality backlink

Hello!
Pretty simple steps for me:
1. Domain age and how many domains are hosted on same IP (if it's on cloudflare you can skip IP checks). whois.domaintools.com is my tool of choice.
2. Metrics and backlinks - Ahrefs & Majestic is what I prefer
3. Ranking metrics - Ahrefs KWs. Really great to understand on high level what Google thinks of the page.
4. Basic On-page SEO checks - Screaming Frog
5. Quality of the website and it's content. Nice UX, unique and good quality, relevant content. Also check mobile!!!! This is what so many people forget to do!
6. Outgoing links
7. Page Experience - Google Mobile test, PSI test (focus on field metrics)
Keep in mind that Domain metrics are only a signal. They are not a guarantee of the quality of the site/link. As already mentioned in this thread, Ahrefs is fairly easy to hustle.
This might seem like a lot, but these checks are quite guaranteed to make sure you will not buy bad links. If you have a lot of pages, do it using bulk method. Rather than running checks for each page individually, do a Google Sheet and then run step 1 to all the sites - fill in the sheet, then step 2 etc. Once you get into the zone, you can easily check 20-30 pages in one hour.

Well good luck ranking a casino site in Japan then.
Google doesn't hate the Asian sites, not even the slightest. What Google hate is spam. So if its naturally looking, not artificially link build site, not a fucked up link farm, its a good to go regardless of the niche and language (assuming that is your niche and the language you want to rank to).

Google doesn't hate the Asian sites, not even the slightest. What Google hate is spam. So if its naturally looking, not artificially link build site, not a fucked up link farm, its a good to go regardless of the niche and language (assuming that is your niche and the language you want to rank to).
I haven't seen a single chinese / japanese site ranking in USA

How much French websites you did see ranking in the US? May come as a surprise to you, but Chinese and Japanese people, speaks .. Chinese and Japanese languages, which are not exactly popular in the US.
