How to monetise youtube Shorts

I've been experimenting with youtube shorts. I'm getting a lot of views on the shorts, and a lot of subscribers, but it seems the way shorts are designed they don't show you the description of the video without clicking on "Decription" in the side menu. This means that 99.9% of the people don't ever look at the description compared to 90% on normal views would look at your description. I have links to affilaite products related to the video in my description which convert well on normal videos, but 0 conversions and a tiny amount of clicks (not enough for a conversion).

Any ideas on how to monetise the channel?

First of all are you using app for creating youtube shorts?
Secondly are you already a member of youtube monetization.
Than you can easily show the ads on your shorts by taking the monetization on for your shorts.


Unfortunately for my one channel I am not getting huge views. I am getting huge views for my other channel. I am struggling.
If you make shorts videos with app: now you can make the shorts with manually.
Like vertical.
Below 60 seconds
use #shorts hashtags.

See there have any update option for your youtube app on google play store or IOS app store.
Than lets try again.

Why do you add hashtag #shorts? I don't do that, and all my videos appear as a short anyway

I agree, i think Shorts are still in their infancy and as long as you're still able to have a steady growth on the platform, you should be fine when it is easier to monetize! Good luck!

Are you uploading or making videos by youtube shorts app (USA and India designed).
I mean are you watching the create a shorts button by clicking the plus sign.

Youtube said where the + create a shorts button is not allowed there people can make the shorts by these ways:
Below 60 seconds
Vertical mood
use #shorts on title and description.

For now I would upload as many shorts as possible and use that to get views and grow my channel.
