Is there a reason why some site links end in HTML? (.html)

I have seen some sites on their post blog links end like this --> sitename-postname.html Is there any reason?

It's because of the server rewriting the URL, on an Apache server the server uses the .htaccess file which has a rewrite engine command to rewrite the URL from a directory path to a more clean URL. So sites where you see .html or .php have not configured this.

If you use .html this will see you the top of google page 1 within days!

You are better of using an automatic rewrite facility in your .htaccess, or however you do it again.
