Yet I get the news almost every week, that somebody has been caught for doing illegal stuffs and 1000 sims were recovered from his place.

There's loopholes for sure. For example, your AADHAR. If you gave your AADHAR to a print house for printing, you are risking identity theft (I am stupid enough to have done that recently. I don't blame you.). Operators such as Airtel do not require AADHAR thumb/otp verification anymore. That's a big, big vulnerability.

You can monetize your SIM cards with agent.smshub.org but you need some hardware to receive SMS

Are you doing this or do you know someone who's earning from their platform? I inquired to them and they said I could earn about $1-$2 every 24h per sim card. For me it sounds to good to be true and I dont want to end up spending a ton on the setup and not reaching the figures that they are promising.

I might try them soon. But in order to earn from them you should be able to find a sim card supplier that you can buy for $0.20 each and use about 1000 sim cards minimum per month. By that you'll earn around $200 per month(if you deduct the sim card cost, not yet considering the equipment cost and electricity cost) and thats if the demand for your numbers is good.
