your 1million + links won't mean much if google doesn't consider them worthy. Profile and blog comments won't move much of anything on competitive terms. Find a contributor on a powerful site like huffpo or the like, pay the market rate and get a good powerful backlink, that's what the big boys are doing to move their pages with high buyer intent kw's to number 1, at least in the niches I'm involved in.

The alternative is do more kw research and find terms you can rank well that you comp isn't even targeting.

you need to learn more about SEO,
a proper on-page and quality links will always work,
it depends on your website authority, age & competition tho
