Depends on what you need. If you are really short on cash, just go for a free theme from the wordpress repository and youțll go premium once you get traction. No point in getting a $5 theme just to have a premium one. You usually get themes based on the features you need, not the money you want to spend..

you can get most of the premium themes and plugins for $10 a month,
all are legit as far as I know

if your main concern is speed and optimization then here are a few i recommend.

Oxygen builder(does not use theme)
generatepress (ideal for blogs)
kadence (more features then free generate press)
astra (well established community)
bricksbuilder.io (newest kid on the block)

all of the above are very good when it comes to wordpress speed and optimization.
