Hey guys,

Hope you are good!

I am about to start my journey on youtube and I am looking at my competitors. How do I know if a channel is monetized? I know that youtube can place ads even if the channel is not enabled for monetization so I can't really understand if those kind of channels are earning money or not.

Thank you

No way to find its monetised or not, you can ask the channel owner

It’s not possible anymore I think. In the past you could just check on social lade and they even showed the MCN they were with. Not anymore unfortunately.

What niche are you looking into, if you don't mind sharing
It’s an Italian thing (I am Italian). There’s a podcast guy who’s booming right now and people remake videos and put them on youtube. That’s why I am not sure those youtube channel are making money out of it

Do you think they’ll share the information? I would be their competitor so I don’t think they will. It’s worth to try though, thanks for the suggestion

Unfortunately there is no way to know if another person’s video is monetized. YouTube place ad at the beginning of every video regardless if it’s monetized or not, some videos will also have ads placed throughout the video by YouTube but only YouTube is getting the money for those ads. It’s just a guessing game at this point.

Hard to tell. Before you could just go to the channel and if it plays ads then its monetized. But now youtube plays ads on non monetized channels too. Maybe. Just maybe...if that channel has 8min+ videos and this video has multiple ads (yellow bars in timeline) then its probably monetized. I dont know any other ways to find out.

To get into the YouTube Partner Program, your channel needs 4,000 public watch hours in the last 12 months, and 1,000 subscribers. Your channel will also get reviewed to make sure it follows https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1311392?hl=en.

Yes there is a tool to know which channels are monetized on youtube. It's called Tubesift. It's used for youtube ads, which I use for my agency to find channels and videos to target.

you can see from the incognito tab with all blockers disabled to see if there are ads in the video

Youtube can place ads in your videos even if the channel is not enabled for monetization (YT gets all the money from the AD) so even if there's ads on the video doesn't mean the channel is monetizing
