Bitcoin Downtrend.

No probs.. Answer these questions as a good starting point:

What was the date of the 2016 BTC halving?
What was the date of the peak of the 2017 bull run?
How many days between these two dates?

What was the date of the 2020 halving?
What was the date that BTC reached it's current ATH of ~ $42,000?
How many days between those two dates?

Then.. look at the stock-to-flow model I posted earlier here.. like I said, we're currently on red-going-to-orange dots, we need to be on orange-going-to-yellow dots before we start seeing the end of this run.

Now do this..

Get the date of the 2020 bull run and add the same number of days to it as there was between 2016 halving and 2017 run.

Where does that put you? End of this year.

Compare that to the stock-to-flow model and where the orange dots will start becoming yellow... end of this year.

Then consider the logic of waiting 4 years for another bull run and then only pushing the price of BTC double... does that make sense when we look at the huge growth in ATH in every other bull run?

Then think about all of the secondary reasons like the huge increase in institutional investment, the catastrophic state of the stock market right now, global unrest and pandemics, great reset etc etc etc etc the world is massively unsteady at the moment, more than in any of our lives.

In Cyprus and Venezuela people flocked to crypto in droves when their financial system's failed... people in the mainstream financial sector are seriously comparing gold and Bitcoin for longterm haven asset status for the first time in any real way.

There's so much more greed to be had this year and so little fear. It's more than just looking at charts and recognising a pattern man.

I see your perspective, but one question that bugs me, why does it look like an exact replica of 2017? This cannot be a coincidence, why did it enter a reversal instead of a retracement?

Right now I'm ignoring all news, all media, everything fundamental, because I've seen how wall street have just decimated everything I thought wasn't possible. I mean they got Robinhood to stop buying only and allow selling, they've literally managed to make Robinhood take thousands of lawsuits so they can get their way.

That tells me, if they want to crash bitcoin right now, they can. They have no limits. And with it being in a downtrend, it's essentially going against the whales. There is no doubt in my mind that they have caused this reversal. I believe bitcoin could have reached 100k this bullrun without their intervention. But I'm certain they have intervened and blocked the run,

And that stock to flow model is popular right? especially amongst amateur traders, so if everyone's adding money expecting this 100k to happen, this is the perfect time for whales to suck that money right back out. Because then they get money from the amateur traders first, and then the general public. Afterall they can't grab the money near 100k if that's when the people who follow stock to flow model will be selling off. That will just cause a huge dump and won't give the whales a chance to get rid of their holdings,

Remember this things increasing from 3k to 40k, that's 11x, that's astonishing profits for whales, not as good as 2017, but in terms of markets overall, it's absolutely unbelievable. And the whales are not greedy, I don't have a doubt in my mind that they aren't extremely happy with 11x and then about to use that 11x profits to short the market and maximise profits insanely.

I fear that's why it's being blocked from making a new ATH, because they are currently selling off, and once they reach their limits, they will enter a short phase and crash it.

One thing I do try to do, is ignore what's being shared, and think "how would manipulators use the current conditions against people to get their money"

I'll never guess their exact plan, as it's probably complex, but maximising profits whilst reducing risk is their only outcome and is the only outcome that will happen. Leaving this to 100k is increasing their risk massively as most people will sell off at 100k, even the general public.

Whenever I see a price being held down, it's always the same reason. A big player selling off. The reversal strongly indicates that big people are selling off, and if big people are selling off, is that not a red flag to you?

one question that bugs me, why does it look like an exact replica of 2017?
For any number of reasons.. one being that it's a mirror image of the 2017 bull run and now the price is going to $10K, another is that institutionals want to create an obvious pattern that even people without very much trading knowledge will be able to recognise and will assume that means the run is over and so they'll unload their bags before the run continues.

This cannot be a coincidence, why did it enter a reversal instead of a retracement?
You get way too hung up on the reversal/retracement thing. This is crypto, not stocks. Patterns are a thing, but they're not everything. You have been shown a signal which now is the core of your belief system - i.e. "we're in a reversal, not a retracement".. get outside of your head and see that's the dictionary definition of manipulation. Now you believe something which will make you act a certain way, irrespective of other factors.

It's a consideration, not the only consideration.

They didn't expect what happened obviously.. that was damage control in a panic. If you came into trading thinking that shit like that wasn't possible, consider yourself lucky now you can see that it is. Crypto's worse than the mainstream finance will ever be, even today.

That tells me, if they want to crash bitcoin right now, they can.
And if they want to push it to $500,000 they can.. And if they want to push it to $5,000 they can. They control the price of Bitcoin completely and use retail traders every day all day.

I believe bitcoin could have reached 100k this bullrun without their intervention.
This bull run isn't over bro. Said with 99.99% certainty.

But I'm certain they have intervened and blocked the run,
Every price movement is under their control. They didn't block anything, they made the price go to $42,000, then they made it come down.

And that stock to flow model is popular right? especially amongst amateur traders
Not popular, accurate. Historically the most accurate model that tracks to the price of Bitcoin most accurately. If it's popular it's because it's accurate.

It's popular amongst retailers and institutionals - because funds care about things that are accurate.

so if everyone's adding money expecting this 100k to happen, this is the perfect time for whales to suck that money right back out. Because then they get money from the amateur traders first, and then the general public.
It's going to more than $100K by the EOY imo bro. $125 - $200.

Afterall they can't grab the money near 100k if that's when the people who follow stock to flow model will be selling off. That will just cause a huge dump and won't give the whales a chance to get rid of their holdings,
They vacuum up the sells at $90K+ and pump it to $200 (or smth like this). People freak out who have sold once it goes above $100K, buy back in and pump it way higher.

Remember this things increasing from 3k to 40k, that's 11x, that's astonishing profits for whales
2X the ATH is not what's happening. That's not astonishing profits for whales either bro.. 11X is a regular week in a bull run for institutional traders running algos.

not as good as 2017
Big understatement.. it's terrible compared to 2017, and absolutely irregular compared to 2013 and 2017.

And the whales are not greedy
1) You obviously couldn't know this.
2) This is obviously 100% laughable, of course they're greedy - their entire business model is maximising profits. That's why the prices moves like it does, it's been mastercrafted to fuck with retail traders as much as possible.

I don't have a doubt in my mind that they aren't extremely happy with 11x and then about to use that 11x profits to short the market and maximise profits insanely.
You can't know what whales are thinking... neither you or I could understand their what they're thinking at all. They're on another level, trading hundreds of millions per week, with teams of the smartest people in the world, running algos that would fry your brain if you spent 5 minutes trying to understand them.

One thing I do try to do, is ignore what's being shared, and think "how would manipulators use the current conditions against people to get their money"
This is 100% on the money and the right way to think.

I'll never guess their exact plan, as it's probably complex
Big understatement again.

Whenever I see a price being held down, it's always the same reason. A big player selling off.
A guess at best again mate.. unless you have access to the trading records of big exchanges and can match "the price being held down" against the identity of large traders making sells at that point in time, there's no way for you (or me or 99.9999999999% of people) to have a fucking clue what's going on behind the curtains.

The reversal strongly indicates that big people are selling off, and if big people are selling off, is that not a red flag to you?
The recent price action could indicate a whole bunch of things. If you make a habit of tricking yourself into thinking that guess and opinions are objective truths, you'll end up basing your trading decisions on things you think are true (ie. "The reversal strongly indicates that big people are selling off") when really it's just an opinion that you have.

I disagree with a lot there, particularly the reversals, people trading against the trend have a much higher chance of losing money. That's why it's the golden rule in trading. Regardless of the source of why a reversal is there, you never trade against it.

If it's a downtrend, you play it short, if it's an uptrend, you play it long, My only action right now if I was to take any, would be to short it until a new ATH appears, because I have a higher probability of winning long term. This might be crypto, but it's still a market, and it still has the main big players in it (The pros at market manipulation / trading)

However, we are going to have to agree to disagree here. Time will tell who is right, but I'm confident this won't make a new ATH until the next cycle. I've been thinking about this in-depth the last few weeks, and each time I get more and more confident. I'm expecting some big red candles over the coming days with some resistance over the next few weeks.

The mistake I made in 2017 was I believed everyone who made in-depth arguments for why it was going to keep going higher, this time I'm going with my instinct.

I do wish you luck, and since you have money invested I do hope it goes up in price for you and your predictions come true :)

But when you originally said there was a reversal, the price increased by almost 20% since then. So trading against a reversal can obviously be profitable, or that wasn't a reversal.

Pretty shit golden rule taking that into account. Golden rules are meant to be 99.9% reliable.

Go with your instinct bro, for sure. I'm just saying that your logic may be based on things that are not accurate. The same is true for me though, and it's always easy to make a list of reasons you think someone else might not be right, but always way harder to self-assess.

Well right now I've just re-entered for another short so hopefully it crashes to $10K ;)

All the best bud.

The one more thing is that may cause the dump imo is the lack of new investors. As you can see on the chart (https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=today 5-y&q=bitcoin) on google trends, there is the dump in popularity of "bitcoin" in online searches. And as you can see this trend chart has a huge correlation with bitcoin price. This is just my opinion.
A famous saying from statistics and psychology is "correlation doesn't equal causation".

It's hard to say if higher BTC prices draw in more searches (highly likely) or if higher searches for "BTC" impacts the price of BTC (much less likely).

But still there's no way to know 100% if it's one or the other.

Yes markets fluctuate, the reversal is based on days timeframe, you can get reversals on 5 minute timeframes, the reversal just means that the markets uptrend has been broken and a downtrend has been confirmed.

I've studied charts histories for a while, and reversals are actually very reliable, that's why I've incorporated it into my strategy, a reversal doesn't mean it can't go higher, it just means that the market is on a downtrend after an uptrend, and to bet the price will go up during a downtrend is asking to lose money long term as it's more likely the price will go down.

That 20% you was referring to, would be trends in a shorter timeframe, timeframes are key, I tend to go with days as my long term time frame as there is enough data for me, in comparison to weeks/months, my day trading is on 5 minute timeframes to ride waves during the day, whilst my longer term decisions are based on days time frame.

Go with your instinct bro, for sure. I'm just saying that your logic may be based on things that are not accurate. The same is true for me though, and it's always easy to make a list of reasons you think someone else might not be right, but always way harder to self-assess.

I agree, which is why I take money out of the game whilst I'm analysing, I basically have a ton of altcoins in my trading view, and scout through them all looking for some decent looking signals, look at the 5/30 minute timeframes, and then the days timeframe to get an idea of short term predictions/long term predictions, and then I enter my money. I do this to remove my emotion and my bias, as if my money is not invested in a coin, I couldn't care less if it goes up or down as I don't really care about crypto as a whole. This is actually another reason why I avoid news/media sites, because if it's not wall street pumping out information, it's someone who actually wants bitcoin to succeed for "decentralized movements" or whatever agenda they have.

Personally I don't understand how bitcoin can work as a financial system long term, but that's because I haven't done research into it. So it's unknown technology to me, I'm purely trading on my TA strategy, I do consider myself emotionally out of it and purely unbiased. I'm just here for the profits :D SEO and IT engineering is what I love and thrive on :D

You too mate, I'm predicting 10k by december ;D 20-30k for the next for months ;D

I'm already shorting UNI and have been since $21.2, but you can be damn sure I'm exiting that before things turn around.

This may be a huge selloff.. like back down to $34,500 - $35,000 within a quick period of time. Will have to see.. it's been alt saison for weeks without a blow off.
Do you think it will still come down?

Enjoying this read, one thing to mention: Bitcoin may be sharing the search volume with Ethereum & Co, so unless you have number of searches then and now, that chart could mean nothing.

Do you think it will still come down?
I think it'll come down relatively short term.. altcoins could really do with a sell off, so I think quite a small drop for BTC (max a few K), but big sell offs for a lot of altcoins and for ETH (~25%).

Then I think it keeps and going up.

looks like a lot of experts or at least crypto enthusiasts here - whereas I consider myself as a crypto noob

So my question is that do you guys think there will be market correction soon and I should wait for it to fall further to invest in some btc?

As a crypto expert, if I’m going to be honest with you, in my own humble opinion without being sentimental of course, without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter from a distinctive perspective, I would like to say I have nothing to say.
But as a crypto noob, my answer is "Yes". This is not financial advice

Naw my money has been in Capita PLC for a few months, got around x2 returns hoping for x3 in a few week when the full year results are published.
Good investment man.. are you thinking of re-entering crypto or leaving it now and focusing on stocks?

Cheers and I'll probably reenter on the next crash, I've got my eyes on a few stocks that have been hit hard by the pandemic that should recover fast when restrictions are lifted, waiting for Capita full year results to raise the share price (Fingers crossed they've made some good savings) and then jumping over to the next stock.

I was pissed off about BNB though, I was tempted to jump in at 44, wish I did now with the 6x multiplier.

When are you exiting BTC out of curiosity? 90-100k?

Yeah nice, sounds like a reasonable plan mate.

I'm exiting once a few criteria are met:

- BTC minimum $120K
- Timeframe minimum Late October
- Stock-to-flow colour minimum yellow for 3 months
- 1 Month BTC RSI minimum 94

Any time after all 4 criteria are met I would expect to be a solid exit point.

I'm developing a plan for shorting the top as well after selling out. If all goes to plan and the crypto market doesn't implode between now and the end of the year thinking that I'll reverse DCA short on BTC and ETH at 1/2 week intervals at 1:1 following exiting all positions. Leave them running for 18 - 24 months.
