Oh boy! Bitcoin at $55k!

Seems to me these guys are holding for the medium to long term targeting at least 100k imho. I mean, Microstrategy said they were borrowing 600m to buy more Bitcoins. Who does that except the are are dead certain of something. Secondly it seems the retail investors are also a big force to reckon with in this. Its not all about the whales, though they trigger the initial moves.
So the strategy of most is buy and hold.

Any real scary news can trigger the sell off at any time. The good news is that its just take profit even if it crashes, pretty quickly it will go back up again because the general world view of Bitcoin will still remain the same. So its a win either way..

Yea that’s right about microstrategy, although that buy is a prospect at the moment as they’ve not actually made the purchase yet have they? But I know what you mean.

I just hope that the big boys such as Elon Musk don’t decide to cash out - couldn’t blame them as they’ve made a great profit already; but hopefully they’re investing into BTC for the long term rather than for quick profit.

If Elon cashes out today, It will only drop a few grand and in a few days go back up. His $2.5B (profit inclusive) is just 2% of the total market cap. Not enough to change perception. The bull run was already well underway before he joined in. It wont stop yet if he cashes out.

If he cashed out today then it'd change perception. People would follow. MOney follows Elon - look at what just happened with doge from one dojo comment on twitter.
Bull run or not BTC's actual appreciation without leverage prices it around 32k. Thats the trigger point for a future buy.

How did you arrive at 32k?

All big players will sell and take the profits when they will feel the bull run is reaching the limits.
The small beginner investors will remain hoping to get rich.
Big players invest just for profit, they are not idiots to put billions in and maybe next year to remain with half of the money.
Just my oppinion

Anyway we have an inside info from this thread already. Some whales are targeting exiting around 95k to 97k, just below 100k. I guess they want to play safe.

It's those types of psychological numbers that people work to, $50, 75k, 100k, but like you say if you're happy with your profits and there's no reason why not to jump ship at 73.5 or 96 as you point out.

Can anyone suggest any other cryptocurrency to invest in apart from bitcoin?

I bought Holochain(HOT) 3 years ago. Recently they finally made proof-of-concept with elemental chat and while other cryptos were going down, HOT went up :)

Another crypto I'm been eyeing is NANO. It has instant transactions that don't cost you anything. Truly crypto that Bitcoin wanted to be

It doesn't work like that. Market cap doesn't equal the amount of money in the market, it's just the last price multiplied by coins in circulation. So if you dump a few billion dollars worth of BTC the market cap will decrease by hundreds of billions.

at 56k Elon will have made 1 billion profit.
I have my suspisions that he's suckering wealth in knowing that money always follows his. (Doge coin was a test. Its a joke meme coin with zero real world value and look what happened when Elon bought some..)
Then he'll sell. The price will correct, somewhere around the 31k mark which is actually where it should be right now.
I see his 'eco' Tesla credentials and energy hungry crypto as a juxtaposition for his long term support. Remember, he's about profit, not support..

Some advice if you want it:
I've been in crypto since 2015. Think of it as asset betting. (some will sell it as a currency but BTC is currently far to unstable to be used as such.)
Never put in what you can't afford to lose that same day.
Never panic into buying the highs on the promise of what might be..
Take profit. Forget that todays 50k sale 'could' be worth 300k in a year.
Use profits to buy the dips.
At worst take your original stake as profit, that way regardless of how high the prices climb you're NEVER out of pocket.
At best pay off your mortgage, pay off those loans and consider how much you need to really make a difference to your life and do the things you really want to do. Everything else is a bonus.
Pay your crypto taxes (different Countries have different rules.) Donate some to charity to offset your tax bill.
Lastly, avoid Alts unless you've done your research and realise the risk involved.
HTH
Good advice, especially for a beginner like me.
It seems to me that the Bitcoin drop/correction can and should be used. Having invested at the time of the fall, you can make a profit when Bitcoin rises. In my opinion, Bitcoin will grow. Correct me if I was wrong about something.

How did you arrive at 32k?
Bitcoin still has 20 to 1 leverage for evey $ entering the system toward the market cap, so the actual appreciation without leveage prices it around 31/32k
That basically means the next price point for a sensible/lower risk 'investment' is the 31/32k mark.

You're spot on.
I say jump ship with whatever youneed to make that little or large life difference.

I wouldn't at the moment. Theres money to be made day trading ALTs but theres big money to be lost if you're not up on the game.
ETH is a safe bet in the future but see where this week heads.. If XMR went sub $100 i'd see it as a buy.
But never bet what you can't afford to throw away that same day.
