Oh boy! Bitcoin at $55k!

@Brickbat1

If you were a total noob to Bitcoin (like me) would invest 10k in it now?

I just bought £10k at £40k a coin. - had coins in the early days and let them go, I've done a lot of research and it could easily reach 200k-300k a coin by Dec this year!

IT WILL NOT DROP AT LEAST UNTIL THE PANDEMIC IS OVER IT WILL BE TOO BIG BY THEN

if you think you're to late your not, its just the beginning only 4% of internet users use crypto. This is just the start!

Interesting part is that despite the BTC value rising to all time highs, most altcoins are still way below their peak values before the 2018 crash.

Bitcoin will not be the only crypto to exceed 1 trillion market cap.

Yes it is going to high more than this time. I presume it when it was 4K. I invested few and now I cheer up with expected price.

imagine how much elon was profit now

at 56k Elon will have made 1 billion profit.
I have my suspisions that he's suckering wealth in knowing that money always follows his. (Doge coin was a test. Its a joke meme coin with zero real world value and look what happened when Elon bought some..)
Then he'll sell. The price will correct, somewhere around the 31k mark which is actually where it should be right now.
I see his 'eco' Tesla credentials and energy hungry crypto as a juxtaposition for his long term support. Remember, he's about profit, not support..

Some advice if you want it:
I've been in crypto since 2015. Think of it as asset betting. (some will sell it as a currency but BTC is currently far to unstable to be used as such.)
Never put in what you can't afford to lose that same day.
Never panic into buying the highs on the promise of what might be..
Take profit. Forget that todays 50k sale 'could' be worth 300k in a year.
Use profits to buy the dips.
At worst take your original stake as profit, that way regardless of how high the prices climb you're NEVER out of pocket.
At best pay off your mortgage, pay off those loans and consider how much you need to really make a difference to your life and do the things you really want to do. Everything else is a bonus.
Pay your crypto taxes (different Countries have different rules.) Donate some to charity to offset your tax bill.
Lastly, avoid Alts unless you've done your research and realise the risk involved.

I just bought £10k @ £40k a coin should I get out? in your opinion

So is it too late to buy today at the all time high?

I refer you to 'can you afford to lose your investment.'
You're simply betting on continued supply and demand vs a correction.
I'm in and hodl'ing at these prices i'm not buying.

See above. You own 1/4 of a coin or there abouts. If you can afford to forget that 10k then let it sit.
You'll no doubt see it rise and fall but long term I think you'll see 25k from that 10k gamble.
You have to have an exit plan though. How much profit do you 'want' to make from that 10k...

Yes its a realistic scenario, its about 5% of liquid savings, I can afford to lose it, I have spent that much on worse.

Obviously I would like to walk with a profit, I got a fair bit of money in the bank not making any interest at all.

I was thinking of topping it up in more BTC I hold XMR as well for when atomic swaps for xmr happen and the big bags / 'whales' swap all their bitcoin to xmr

I now its carries a risk (I will only risk what I can afford to lose) but obviously I would like to make money from this investment.

I am very interested in engaging with others to help me come up with a strategy last time I was involved years ago I made a loss, be nice to have some sort of plan.

Appreciate the advice by the way, thank-you.

So I could walk with 25k GBP from £10k (meaning 1 BTC value would be: £100k)

In my opinion, the only thing that can cause a significant crash now, is government legislation against it as governments begin to try to protect their economies amidst rising inflation. There is a lot of 0 interest free money available. So at some point, interest rates will rise, and fellas have to pay back their loans or governments legislate hard against crypto and cause a panic sell /crash.

Both scenarios are at least several months away, so the rise will continue because bitcoins now are scarce and everyone is piling in.

Can you imagine the Binance CEo said they were getting 300k new accounts per day - what for? fellas want a piece of the action.

This thing is far from stopping now..

I honestly think BTC will see 100k BUT first i 'think' we'll see a correction to around 30ish. I may be wrong and it may
soar to 100k. Here comes the second 'BUT,' I know a couple of whales (hate that term) who are out at just under 100k.
Because they treat it as an asset rather than a long term monetary solution.
I like XMR and the whole fungibility thing, I bought in early 2017 when it was around $13 and questioned my decision to hodl after the 2018 bull run.. but it's doing well again now.

I guess if I were you (easy to say as it's not my money) i'd be treating your recent foray as either a long term HODL taking profit at around 97k or being happy with a 10% quick profit return and satisfying myself that its earned 'good times bank interest'
with little risk rather than sitting doing nothing..

Thanks for sharing that article it looks interesting I am reading it now.

It puts a question in my mind - all of these big investors putting money into Bitcoin, of course, that will drive the price up. But these investors are obviously in it to make money (Which means selling at some point) and I am sure anyone investing that type of money has a pre-defined strategy in place; so it begs the question when are they looking to sell and are they in BTC for the short, medium or long term?

Also, your valuation for the end of the year - $200k to $300k - I think (and hope) that is entirely possible.
Seems to me these guys are holding for the medium to long term targeting at least 100k imho. I mean, Microstrategy said they were borrowing 600m to buy more Bitcoins. Who does that except the are are dead certain of something. Secondly it seems the retail investors are also a big force to reckon with in this. Its not all about the whales, though they trigger the initial moves.
So the strategy of most is buy and hold.

Any real scary news can trigger the sell off at any time. The good news is that its just take profit even if it crashes, pretty quickly it will go back up again because the general world view of Bitcoin will still remain the same. So its a win either way..
