He's gotten charged for the equivalent of fraud for not disclosing he was being paid, not for "pumping" which isn't even a legal term or something you can be charged with.
If he had have said the exact same things except "I'm being paid by this project" or even if he hadn't said explicitly that he wasn't being paid, they couldn't have charged him with shit.
Promoting a crypto project is not illegal. Being paid to promote a crypto project is not illegal. Saying (fraudulently) that you are unbiased in your promotion of a crypto project, but it then turning out you made millions of dollar from doing so and used your social prominence to do so is illegal because you're essentially tricking people into buying something.
It has no reflection on him promoting the projects though, it's the way he promoted them that could be a problem. Tax evasion is 400 times more serious though so I'm guessing if he's sweating he's sweating about that part of it.
Guy needs to lay off the drugs for real.
