Do you do any kinds of promotion for your videos anymore or do you literally just upload them and then thats it? What would you recommend as the best promotion to do for a brand new channel?

All I literally do is organic, well researched content. I no longer use community boards or any other sort of external promotions. Everything is grown organically

Hi,

thanks for doing this AMA. :)

So I started with YouTube this week. My channel is in the the motivation niche and my first video is online for about 24 hours with just a few views (probably just from me and a few friends)
1. Is this normal? does it take time for youtube to pickup my video and show it to other people?

2. Also are there some things that I have to watch out for? (In my head is this plan: get audio from a speech or something, slice it into the most important pieces, get free videos from pixabay, storyblocks or whatever, make a great video with copyright free music and collect $)

3. Do you have something like "guidelines" for uploading videos? For example do´s and dont´s for descriptions, tags, titles, uploadtime etc

4. Do you have general advice on how to grow faster on youtube (maybe even in that niche) and how to do SEO properly? For now my only plan is to make as many videos as possible and
wait for a miracle

5. Also how soon can I expect to earn money with youtube in the niche that i picked. Some say 6 months to one year, some are making profit in the first month..
Im not impatient, I just want to set a realistic goal for myself

6. I wonder where all your content comes from if you are for example in the mma nishe or even celebs. Shouldnt all the video be under copyright or something? :)

Thanks and sorry to take so much of your time. :weep:

1. Yes it does take time for youtube to pick up your video and show it to other people.
2. I have no experience with using copyrighted audio from celebrity's speeches but i assume because other people are doing it, it should be fine.
3. Keep everything appropriate for a 12 year old to watch with his/ her family. Put your keyword in the title, description, and tags.
4. Here's a copy and paste reply:

1. Put your keyword in the beginning of your title
2. Niche down to blow up.
3. Never have more than 2 faces/ sets of eyes in your thumbnails as this tends to distract viewers
4. In the beginning of your videos, always mention something regarding "Watch until the end to see #1/// Watch until the end to learn my #1 tactic"
5. Spend as much time on your title and thumbnail as you do on your actual video.
6. Create searchable content.

5. Everyone is right. it takes anywhere from 1 month to 1 year. It's hard for me to tell you if i dont know your channel, the quality of your videos, how often youre posting, the perfermance of current videos, etc.
6. Nope, it falls under fair use in which i am using copyrighted content to create innovative content of my own.

What are the cpm of discovery ads views ? Like did I get paid if I promote my video on YouTube with discovery ads ?

How exactly did you use tubebuddy and VidIQ and got it working for you? Can give a simple algorithm of how you use them before and after making a video. Did you make your own rules on how you use them or followed their rules? Your sincere answer will be helpful and greatly appreciated. I am very much particular about this cos the two services are messing with my brain.

SECONDLY: Do Tags work? This channel i came across Joined Sep 25, 2020 and by December a few of their videos have gone viral. all of them have no tags.

hi i have very small but critical question

how you make your video from other people content ?

such as if i want to make a 6 minutes of movie review content with my own commentary

i.e such as if i want to make top gun movie review with my own voice commentary , then how to take this? actually how you make this ?

1. you take very small clip such as 10 second and 20 second from the original movie ? and match voice and add meaningfull info?
2 does those video fall under fair use or get usually copyright ?

thanks

I have one quick question.
Can I monetize my gameplay without commentary?

I have one quick question.
Can I monetize my gameplay without commentary?
If you mean getting accepted into YPP, Short answer is NO!
But if you're already monetized then maybe YES!

Thanks for your effort mate! you rocks!

I hear people's were doing video/channel ranking through bulk HQ Views in 2016-7. BUT now in 2021 the method won't work and it won't ranks. is that correct? what you think and your practical experiences with it? I would love to know possibilities of method like this.

1. I dont use tubebuddy or vidiq.
2. I dont use tags

I focus on good content, thumbnails and titles!

Yes to both 1 & 2.

I use clips/ 6-10 second segments of videos and add commentary.

I believe in 100% organic, whitehat traffic. If you have to buy views to your video, youre forcing it. Once you stop buying views, the video may just die.

Hi thanks for opening this thread ☺️

So just to check I understood right...

I have opened an ASMR channel 1 month ago. Unfortunately, I started it from scratch though and I only have 40 subscribers...

I understand you are saying that I should create more videos on competitive keywords to have a chance to be in the "suggested" section?

Should I not bother with low search/low competition keywords at all then?

Many thanks ☺️

40 subs in 1 month is not bad at all.

Thank you very much for the AMA. It was an eyeopener for me. I love BHW for this kind of shares!

I read every post on the thread and I think I am not repeating questions with these:

I plan to start a new channel "top 10" compilation with videos from tiktok and instagram. Perhaps some youtube also, but I would rather not rip yt videos.

1. Should I start with a general channel (posting different niches video compilations, then wait for a video to start getting traction, then orientate the channel to that niche) or a niche channel (with several videos on the same niche) or a subniche channel (go very specific and then open focus)?

2. You said several times you test thumbnails and titles until you are happy with the CTR. How much time do you wait between those changes?

3. What structure or elements should a perfect thumbnail have? Colors, faces, etc ...

4. Any recommendation on videos that sell digital products?

I would love to follow your personal YT channel where you share this kind of info. How can I find it?

Thanks in advance.

Essentially yes, go into harder niche/ "competitive" keywords. I do ZERO research on competition. I like to fit into keywords where I know there is a high demand for search. The number of viewers will always exceed the number of content creators. Just remember that.

Thanks for taking the time to not duplicate any questions.

1. I would either go a niche channel or subniche channel- i've seen both work great before even from personal experience
2. I wait roughly 1 week or for the video to get "enough" impressions. Preferably 1,000+ impressions.
3. Have at most only 2 faces showing. Exaggerate and brighten/ contrast the image.
4. No recommendations at this time.

You can search Asian Hustler Nation on Youtube:) .

Hey, @wengthemeng I just spent hours reading your entire other forum and it's extremely inspiring. Perfect timing too since I just started a youtube channel not too long ago. I am mostly using creative commons videos and am just getting to a few dollars here and there. What is your thought on using CC instead of making your own videos all the time?

Thank you very much for your answers. I already started taking action with that new knowledge.

Some more questions, if I may:

5. What do you think about compilation channels (tiktok, ig)? Any tips will be welcome.

6. What about about YouTube Shorts? Do you use them in any special way?

7. As stated before, I am developing a brand channel 100% whitehat (long term business with several monetization pillars) and planning to launch 2 new channels with some blackhat (disposable channels). I wanna create these 2 new channels from scratch (even with a new Gmail account each) and I don't wanna have them connected in anyway with my main channel. So, I was planning to use 2 of my already running Windows VPS with some proxies from the US. Those VPS run 24/7 music streams to my main channel directly from OBS via a streaming key (so no browser fingerprints there and supposedly no PC fingerprints also). My plan is to upload videos to the 2 new channels manually. Using proxies and FireFox should finish covering the fingerprints, right? Or am I overthinking all of this?

Already subscribed to your YT channel! Pure gold. Good luck with YTstartup!!

Thanks again.
