Does it affect the health and wellness or financial well being of a person? Then yes, it is YMYL.

good point. And thanks for the answer. I also have a website in the personal development niche (well, more or less related to self-help that is) and I was wondering the same. Cheers!

do you think it is a YMYL topic?

I've been in it for 9~ months and my site is barely getting any traction. You can check out my journey post to see how it went. I posted around 100~ articles I wrote myself and it's only now picking up traction. No link building tho.

is your site like further niched down? can you share what method of monetization do you use?

The word "help" itself is a YMYL topic.
YMYL's are no longer specific topics but it can be any piece of content within a not so YMYL looking niche.

Yes, it definitely is. Anything in the self help/personal development niche is YMYL.

9 months for a BACKLINK-FREE site to gain traction is just about right... If you're in a more competitive niche, it would take over a year.

It has a few high DR backlinks, but definitely not enough for Google to trust me. I def think my content is 2-3x better than most garbled bullshit spewed by "professionals" that are writing to make a quick buck. Type in any self-help phrase and you'll be seeing advice from old fucks who are a bunch of suits thinking they're qualified to give life advice.

The difference between me and them is that I've been through all the bullshit. I've climbed out from the dirt, multiple times. If there was anyone on earth capable of helping anyone, it's me, but for now I realize the niche isn't profitable and I'm focusing on affiliate sites.

So you are not doing any affiliate on your site for now?

If you're trying to get into self-help to scam people into buying shit products, you won't make it. It's not a good niche to make money. Try weightloss instead or credit cards.
if i am not mistaken weight loss is heavily YMYL and competitive too but i cant say much about credit cards i dont know much about it can you elaborate it if you dont mind?
