Hi,

I'm heavily considering moving away from Paypal, especially after reading a lot of bad things about them over the last month, and I'd like to give other processors a try.

I did a bit of research, and after some superficial research I've randomly decided on one of the 3 in the title, so please don't recommend me crypto, payoneer and others like that cause they didn't pick my interest. I might give those a try in the future, but at the moment I'm only interested in those 3.

So... is there someone on this forum who has experience with all 3 payment gateways that I've specified in the title? And if there is, can you please give me some little known tips and advice about using any, or all these gateways to conduct business?

I'm mainly interested in what I should expect from them in terms of...

- transparency (are they transparent, or sneaky like Paypal?);
- security (easily hackable, or not?)
- limitations (how easy and fast is it to get my money out from these accounts?);
- verification procedures (will it take me one year to get verified and will I need to provide dozens of papers of myself, my parents, my spouse, and my cat, or is the process quick and painless?);
- strictness (can I click on "cash out" and have the money instantly in my bank account, or do I need to wait XX amount of days before the money is sent out, or to provide proof of me in front of the camera holding my ID up?);

Basically, I wish to know how easy it is to get my money out of these companies if I switch over from Paypal. With PP you can cash out instantly, without being verified and whatnot, which is something I'd like in other payment gateways as well, but I can't figure out which one(s) - if any - is similar to PP in this regard. And I also wouldn't want to be pestered every day with verifications upon verifications of all sorts and with physical addresses and other crap like that. Which is why I need the input of people who have used these services and know their routines.

Please let me know cause I really got freaked out about the negative comments about Paypal and I'd like to make a move before PP decides that they don't like me anymore :)

Thank you in advance!

Waiting :)

Not too sure about Stripe, but so far 2CO seemed to work okay for me.

Here the cons:

  1. Some of the processes inside the dashboard aren't really straightforward.
  2. Similarly, the interface can be confusing at times
  3. The fees they charge aren't exactly low.
  4. Moreover, they often have technical problems, especially with subscription payments and PayPal.

Here are the pros:

  1. However, if your concern is reliability and transparency, then 2CO doesn't seem too bad when compared to PayPal head-to-head.
  2. Security is fine, had no issues so far.

Other:

Verification - you'll have always have to submit docs and papers to get your store confirmed, no way around it with any official payment processing solution.

Strictness - genuinely don't know the answer to this question, as I was managing the 2CO account, but wasn't actually its owner - so never tried what you described in your bullet point

Hope this helps,

Out of the three I think Authorize.net would be best.

I know I should go into detail why I think that, but I really don't feel like it.

2co is good, I use it. Very limiting in what you can sell with it though. Their website kinda sucks to find your way.

Stripe, I mean, isn't it like gaypal, two sides of the same coin? Can't say, I never used Stripe.

Authorize.net though I feel good about. One of my customers after getting fucked by gaypal too many times started using Authorize.net, and he's very happy with it.

from wich country you are btw? i use 2checkout it's good so far

Are not Authorize.net and 2 CO the same entity?

they don't seem to be.

I have the same feeling, but... I'd like the facts to back up my feelings for more peace of mind :) ... Do you happen to know what the limits (if any) are for authorize.net? Withdrawal limits I mean

Romania. Do you know the limits for withdrawing money from my 2CO account? Also, any restrictions, strict verification process, and limitations on what you can sell? I'm mostly dealing with digital products

by transparency I mean that I'd like to know what I can do and what I can't do right from the start, I don't want to start offering a backlinking service (just an example) and have my account suspended out of the blue if this is not allowed... or even clearly specified in their ToS. That's what I mean by transparency. Did you ever run into issues with them for this type of business (SEO-related mainly), and if you did, how did they react to it (closed your account, gave you a warning, took money out of your account as damage fees, etc)?

Hope this helps

it does. Thanks a bunch! :)

I don't know what the limits are for Authorize.net

2checkout offers bank transfer and Payoneer for withdrawals. You set a withdrawal amount you want (minimum $50), and when you reach/surpass that amount, they send you the money using what you set (bank or payo). They pay out once a week.

2checkout should be cool with SEO services. But you do need a website in order to apply. You can see what they prohibit here - https://www.2checkout.com/legal/acceptance/

The good thing about 2checkout is that they'll review your website and accept or reject your application. But if you're accepted, you have nothing to worry about as long as you sell what they approved you for.

I will also note, I never had a customer not be able to complete a debit/credit card payment with 2checkout, but I did have a client from the EU unable to pay a Payoneer payment request with his card. So just putting it out there.

If gaypal had the same approval system, they wouldn't be hated as much. I mean, they'd still be hated because they'd find a way to make people hate them, because they're the devil, but still...

I see... Well, 2CO seems like a winner, but... none of my websites has physical address (and I don't intend to add one, either since they're content blogs mostly) and I understood that they do require physical address. I'll see what I can do about it...

On the other hand, 2CO are quite famous (I think I've been using them to make payments for a decade but only this week I started considering them for a merchant account)

Anyway, thanks for the tips. They're much appreciated :)

Yes they will require an address publicly visible on your website in order to get approved.

You can add your home address, it doesn't have to be a business.

Oh, send me your website link... I like to know... where people... live...

hahahhahahhaa :D

Good luck dude :)

Well, after checking that link I'm not sure anymore that my website will get accepted. I'll wait a few more days until I learn what the deal with authorize.net and stripe is.

My website is the one in my profile's website section (an ebooks selling website), and I just checked what they prohibit and they don't like gambling (understandable) and - what really bothers me - hypnosis. I do have an ebook on hypnosis and hypnosis is a pretty damn scientific industry, so I don't understand why they're not accepting that. Odd....

Anyway, I saw 2 other things that worry me... well, if those 2 categories mean indeed what I think they mean. But I'll need a 2nd opinion for confirmation, so can you please help me understand what they mean by these 2:

- Infomercial Sellers;
- Selling Products/Services as an Agent for a Third Party;

I think "infomercial seller" is someone who sells digital products, no? And the 2nd category probably refers to affiliates?? So, they don't accept affiliate websites of any kind, or what exactly? I don't know...

Yeah I know what you mean, it's not very precise. It's vague and open to interpretation, which gives them the right to do whatever they want basically. Still better than gaypal.

In all honesty, maybe it's best you send them a message and ask if your website would be acceptable to them. That way you would know for sure.

I know it's confusing, but that's what we have to work with. Payment processors/receiving money has been the most annoying thing for me in the years I've been making money online, especially since I started earning more than peanuts.

I checked your site. Where's your home address?

Also I wonder, do you keep lots of valuables at home? You know, jewelry, cash, art, collectibles, stuff like that?

Thanks :D

good point! I'll do that sometimes next week (after I learn more about authorize and stripe)

Haven't put it yet, and I don't think I'll add it with you all over me LOL

nah, I'm poor as fuck, so I present no interest. I also had a watchdog but they've stolen it, so I don't even have that one anymore, either :D

hahhaahahahaha oh man you're awesome. Go make some moneeeeeeeeeey!

none of my websites has physical address

In this case: can’t you just rent a cheap office for a month or two somewhere over the Internet and once you get approved cancel it or change it to forwarding service?
I mean tons of offices in US are empty anyway. Don’t tell the landlord you will not use the office, just say you will be meeting clients for marketing consulting ...

I could do that, but why the trouble? I can just post my home address if they accept that, I've got nothing to hide, or to be worth stealing. It's the principle (of wanting to know everything about everyone) that bothers me. Besides, websites that are not registered as a company should not be obligated to display a physical address since they have none, so this requirement is double-silly

I've been working with 2CO on behalf of an SEO agency and had no issues like account blocks/ warning etc

Yet it really depends on the service that you offer. As you know terms and conditions are always vague enough to leave some room for interpretation. So the fact that I had no issues with them doesn't mean everyone doesn't

Yeah, I know that the T&C are always vague...

Thanks for the info. I'm going to apply to 2CO before the end of the month. If they reject me at least I'll know not to bother with them again :)

Cheers!
