What's the history of BHW?

I got some questions for veteran members -

When was this founded? Anyone remember the milestones as well as the drastic changes that happened over the years?

I only found out recently that the current owner bought this and he wasn't the original.

I've been a semi-lurker here way back 2018- but didn't know this

Anyone wanna school us with a BHW History lesson?

Funny story. I had sort of an IM mentor named Lahiru around 2008 - 2009s. He sort of taught me IM (mostly PPI) in my local language. So this guy mentioned me he learned those stuff from this forum. So once in a while i used to lurk around here. I could barely understand English at the time.

I don't even remember if i had an account honestly. But i remember reading some super shady stuff.

I kinda gave up on IM (imagine giving up in the golden age. What a loser i was) and had to focus on my studies and forgot about the site. Years later came here when i was in love with 'Java' programming language (hence my username Deleted member 923340).

I was a lurker back when BHW was first around in 2006, and wound up registering a year later. it used to be the wild west - IM was a very different game. Quite a few methods were discussed that would now be considered borderline illegal (though I don't believe there were specific laws for some tactics back then - and no I won't mention them as they're against current TOS), ranking was as easy as spamming with tools such as PR Storm, doorway page generators (apparently Fantomas Shadowmaker is still around but no idea how well it works anymore - it used to be amazing), Pligg and wiki spammers, and massive link blasts with Xrumer. SENuke was king. Automation was easy as bot detection was primitive across most sites.

You could paste breaking news articles on a blogger.com site, slap AdSense on it, post it to Digg and buy/trade digg votes to hit first page and make $100+ without even trying.

Blackhatting for the term "Viagra" and hitting the #1 spot for a day before the site got booted from google was considered the holy grail of BHSEO - there were rumors you could make $40k in a day from shady pharmacies - I never tried so I can't vouch for that.

Diamond Dave sold it a while back to Diamond Damien, and at that point at lot of blackhat tactics had become ineffective, there's still plenty that work but the "click a button and rank/make money" days have been fading for years, which is why a lot more people focus on white hat tactics here now.

Haha yup it's been a while now, I was a jr/sr in highschool when I found and joined lol. I've been on BHW almost half my life now.

Not to suck up to the mods and admins here but moderation and management has significantly improved over the years, they do an excellent job keeping the forum clean. Back in the early days there were several scandals and controversies with a few mods, crazy times. They were dealt with, but it's nice to see the honest crew that takes care of BHW now.

I'm hoping some other OGs will chime in with their memories as well (I sound old lol), always nice to see old members posting, though there aren't too many around these days that I've seen.

I think that's one of the biggest things that helped BHW to where it is now. Moderation and removing 'threats'.

I know this forum since 2008 and have been a lurker and joined it in 2009 HaRRO use to be the super mod and there were several others like Hexlor and Whiz.

Its long time and BHW changed a lot. It was a time when paid making money from ring tones on Google was quite popular and I know few guys who have made millions doing same.

Running campaigns on FB with VCC was a cakewalk. Good ol' days.

I knew i was old, but damn, i really never knew bhw history since it was way before i was lurking or even knew IM existed.
But @X I remember when i was first introduced to IM, the eBooks back then was legit the following
Slap a logo on a Blogger site, put on some high CPC kw (Phone numbers & forex was a hit back in 2011s going upwards $50+ a click)
and we made upwards hundreds a day

I joined in 2008, and indeed Diamond Dave was the owner.

to reiterate there were a lot of topics spoken about then that you just wouldn’t dare anymore, almost taboo. The forums main competitor “owner” got into bother for some shady practices and I think it pretty much shaped Bhw and we followed suit - for the best.

back then the mods and super mods were a lot different too, there were some good ones but forthe main part it was an elite bully club and often just a case of we know something you don’t know. Granted lots of money was made.

I was lucky I was good friends with WiredMom and took me from zero to £££, so a lot of respect for that.

In a way yeah - I kind of hated myself for not taking action when I was younger - but I was in love with my passion back then with photography. I'm still 22 as of now so I still have time to grow but I'm doing my best with blogging right now

No point hating yourself. No time like the present.
It helps these days if you have some stash before trying to make cash.

There are no methods like there used to be.
