oh boy... acceptable plagiarism?

I am having a site built for me currently and I am just now checking plagiarism scores and some of it looks really bad...

What is an acceptable amount of plagiarism? I am using Copyscape to check.

I would think anything above 5% would be kind of sketchy but would I be wrong in assuming anything over 10% is unacceptable?

I guess it depends on what triggers it. I use plagiarism checker X atm and it gives 10% for random phrases. Some keywords and so on. If the site is about some common topic I wouldn't be too surprised there's some plagiarism as most of the competition roll some variation of their competition articles etc. It's really funny when you look at it from the outside and then jump in adding a little more to their bullshit.

I understand that. I am however finding articles in the 15% and up range. somewhere it is 30% more. This is extremely high, right?

Does Copyscape have a report option where you can check what triggers it? PCX has such a thing and it's really useful as I can see if the plagiarism is whole sentences or just 3-4 words in the chain that are the same. It makes checking so much easier when you know if it's true plagiarism.

Yes. I am checking some of them and they are whole sentences. talking 10+ words.

Have a least amount of plagiarism. More you have it and higher the risk of being exposed. No matter what the percentage is it will always better to stay away from copied content. You can try spinning them.

dont worry too much about copyscape etc. as google doesn't care about these scores. you can still rank your site.

So even if my article is showing 46% plagiarism and I check it and it has copied several articles my site won't get hit later by some penilty? I just find that super hard to believe.

Rejected as in it is trash content correct? The problem is it's about 100 articles that were delivered over 3 months and I've checked about 16 so far and found 12 of the 16 to be above 15% plagiarism. Google is gonna bend my site over the first time an update hits with this amount of plagiarism correct?

It depends on your thoughts relating to duplicate content in all honesty.

When I give briefs to writers, they know I'll not accept anything over 5% max on Quetext. More often than not this is brand names/models or the phrase is an everyday phrase picked up from a site millions of miles from my niche.

One option is to hire someone to rewrite these to an acceptable level for you, but 75% showing above 15% is poor.

These were already all published on my blog as time has gone on and I never thought to check it as it was a seller who offers the full package deal. It was recently finished and I decided to go through and check the content and then randomly decided to check an article for plagiarism just in came and here we are.

I did not find a single negative review about them so that is why I ended up just letting them do their thing.

If they're already published and not having a negative effect, then don't worry.
There's nothing wrong with going in and editing them a few at a time, if you think they need that.

I don't think they are but the site is also only about 4 months old. So I am not really sure if it can have a negative effect yet. I will probably end up going through and editing them the best I can one at a time.

well then just try it and see for yourself. there is no duplicate content penalty from google, let me quote google themselfs:

'Let's put this to bed once and for all, folks: There's no such thing as a "duplicate content penalty." At least, not in the way most people mean when they say that.
There are some penalties that are related to the idea of having the same content as another site—for example, if you're scraping content from other sites and republishing it, or if you republish content without adding any additional value.'

the key here is "without adding additional value" that means you can even scrape content if you just modify it or add more content to it.

There are many websites that dont have unique content at all but rank hard. Im not just talking about amazon niche sites or blogs.
