For those of you who are unaware about this free online tool that you can use to check the estimated value of your domain name I'll share GoDaddy's patented domain appraisal tool here

seems pretty inaccurate...any idea how the algo works? its def not based on RD...

Been into domaining since 2002.

Have never seen such outrageous appraisal tool.

Estibot is better in comparison.

For one of the largest domain registrars, this is a sad excuse for a domain appraiser.

It's probably based on how many syllables or characters are in the domain name -.-

Most probably the earnings are measured from visitors' location and estimated cost of traffic. Nothing more accurate than measuring from your own ad publisher dashboard.

I would take these kind of appraisals with a pinch of salt.

Yes do it, GoDaddy saves your "domain searchs" and don't be surprised if they register after 2-3 days...

In resume, I should make a website with these tools, and use logs to see what users are searching.

Easy to find good domains, without doing nothing. Users do it for me, for free.
Don't use GoDaddy, everything will be logged and they will register to sell for higher prices, or that info will be forwarded to SEO & Marketing Company.

Only a dizzy, uses that tool.

Ex Godaddy premium domain broker here. Actually the tool prices the domain based on past sales. Godaddy has it's own database of sales that aren't public therefore the estimation is different than estibot. In general, estibot always priced the domains lower than we actually sold them for. Of course, that always depends on how much the buyer is willing to spend and how much the owner is willing to go down. Essentially, let's say you own the domain name MyCar.com. Godaddy will compare "My" "Word" domains that sold in the past with MyCar.com . A great reference is Namebio.com which we used to push buyers to go up on their offer. You can pull up a lot of great comparable sales with it.

Similar to what was said above about it being based on syllables.
They value it based on what similar sounding domains have sold for?
Worst thing I've ever heard.
Should be used for calculating how much you are owed in dmages if somebody infringes on your brand name.
