Contact an agency on Upwork, they will charge x5 on what a freelancer will. I know its frustrating to find a proper developer who doesn't fuck about, they are rare gems.

When you say serious you mean experienced ? There are a lot of serious people but not necessarily with a lot of experience

What kind of work do you need? I have hired many people from upwork for years and there was only one agency that I kept working with outside upwork till today. It is very hard to find a good one. I’m not saying mine is perfect but they are doing great job for me, very communicative, they at least don’t insist on getting paid before I see their work! They are not cheap, $35-40 per hour but I will stick with them.

Bad thing about it here is that most people are going to overcharge you. So, you better do your research first.

Or you're expecting to underpay.

A decent dev is about $25/hr in a 3rd world country. Anything less and they prob don't know what they're doing. You may find $18-20 but that's rare.

When I first started looking for people to work along side me in projects I looked in Discord Server related to that topic.

You will find all the gems you're looking for there. Look for people that contribute and have a portfolio.

Trust me. You will find all the gems on Discord, just google PHP Discord Server or JS Discord Servers or whatever language you're looking for.


You'll find Developers like to move in packs/socialise with their own kind. On Discord.


Bare-in-mind, you won't find anything under $25 an hour if he's experienced.

Try to find the ones that have a strong portfolio.
Also don't go for the cheap ones I've seen a ton of code wrote by random freelancers and it's the same as having nothing to work, most of the time I've to write everything from zero because working with bad quality code is horrible

As many have mentioned, upwork is your best bet. I would first give them a very small part of your project, and see how they complete it, before going with the complete project. It helps if you have broken your project into individual, mutually exclusive feature sets.
