Yup, he's CEO or something for Brave. I definitely feel your pain on the drawbacks, but there's always going to be shortfalls from new browsers vs those that have been in the market for forever. I personally like Stacks the most, they've been making big improvements and just got a nice round of funding so I look forward to watching them grow - and @yakuzaemme recommended Sidekick browser which is also awesome.
I'm glad there are more choices than just Chrome, FF, and Edge - I firmly believe the little guys with agile development can do a lot, quickly and it's exciting to watch. These alternatives will hopefully help topple thrones where the big few can issue edicts from above and force their users to accept or at least quietly comply with their wishes/beliefs/stances/etc.

I've been starting to hear this name around. Seems to be picking up some traction.
i don't know what the heck stacks is but it looks amazing. I haven't heard of sidekick either. I can't seem to access their website as of right now :\. Good to know there are so many little startups.

Did their outlook and objective change when they realised Google via their Chrome project had ZERO interest in collaborating with them before they achieved the greatest market share? I wonder. And edge is rising fast.

People avoid tracking like it’s some kind of martial law but still probably expect their targeted advertising efforts to work like a charm talk about wanting to have your cake and eat it too

Well let’s hope any efforts downloading suspicious software and scripts to avoid so called censorship ends up with you biting of more than you can chew with a RAT from some rogue attacker using it to spoof or attack or actually steal your identity and stuff.
And lets also hope if this happens, that you will still have enough pride to not need to go crying to these evil tracking companies for even a shred of evidence in your favour - you will probably make it difficult, if not night impossible for forensice experts to seperate the wheat from the chaff because all the dabblings in anonymisation, masking and excessive ninja shit has obscured your browsing sessions and legit internet access logging beyond recognition.
Also if someone steals money from your account i’m not sure whether insurance and compensation schemes will be all too happy to help you recover, if you were too busy playing william wallace to realise you were breaching terms of service left and right. You’ll have to look into that if you have time but you may find yourself too out of pocket to even buy stored food and kevalr armour for your zombie apocalypse. Better to be safe than sorry imho. I recommend people ditch their vpns , spoofers and private browsing. Everyone should have at least one transparent Chrome, Edge or Safari based workspace in their house. If you’re doing something you’re too ashamed to show then you shouldn’t be doing it!

A rat is a remote administration tool. Usually it would take considerable effort for an attacker, using things like iot search to home in on a target. Using a rat in shady scripts can make an attack relatively easy. They can use it spy on your every move via your own peripherals; cameras, speakers etc and keyloggers. They can take control of your entire local network, steal all your IDs and sensitive data, control your smart appliances; your tvs, fridge, heating, vaccums. View your cctv security systems, steal information from your hard drives and block you from even storing anything locally in your own drives, instead funnelling all your data over to their remote servers. They can know what your new business strategy is, how much money your have in your accounts, your wifes bust size and what colour bath robe she is wearing right now... All from a command line. Makes commercial cookies and trackers seem almost innocent and angelic in comparison, right?
Look into something like zeus malware, you’ll get the idea.
Whilst everyone is busy trying to erase or anonymise their data, I say we should be doing our best to preserve it and safeguard by sharing with appropriate organisations and authorities if need be.
Safety and security over so called freedom of speech. Do law makers ask the public before passing a new act? I don’t thinks so. It’s all just a moot point then. I think it’s a good thing. Most people are too stupid to even know what’s in their own best interest.

The surprising thing to me is how people celebrate tech companies canceling someone and others that have similar opinions, on almost all fronts.
The question I have is how long does it take before your very own opinion becomes unacceptable as a result deserves canceling on every platform?
Today it's your enemy tomorrow it might be you and your idol.
These companies' execs bringing in their personal political opinions and views into the tech world would eventually destroy it and bring a much wider divide. Because when you pin someone to the wall, they have no option than to bounce back stronger and better, irrespective of whether you like their opinions or not.
I don't have a personal Instagram or Twitter profile. I'm considering deleting my Facebook(it's been dormant and nothing going on there). Soon, as an individual I'll be totally out of these platforms only having my IM related pages.

that was sarcasm I know what rat is it's like 2021 even my dogs know it and you will only get infected by it if you carelessly installing stuff on your pc and opening weird links but the thing is people who do it already have the capacity to hid them selves but not the clueless people. but my point is people choose to used privacy tools you can't push your narrow narratives on other people we are not communist.
Privacy rights prevent the government from spying on people like NSA’s spying on everyone.
If we have strong Privacy rights it keeps group of people from using personal data for their own goals or advantage

Well if things are this obvious, then maybe you’d know in 2021 that hacking a cheap, piece of shit chinese cctv smart system is even easier than hacking a wordpress site and then using it for things like banner grabbing is not out of the question. It’s not just about installing dodgy software.
Even a fairly bright hacker can easily bypass a vpn you’re using to see your real footprint or spy on ssh sessions and use. It does sweet fuck all for security and privacy if someone with knowledge was dedicated enough to look past it. It serves as nothing but a petty thorn in the side for law enforcement and investigators and companies trying to enhance the type of products and services that a lot of brand managers etc even here themselves will likely rely on to help them grow and earn a living.
And this is my point. You’ve got to discern what is the lesser of two evils: companies with commercial incentives collecting and sharing appropriate information simply to help them turnover a profit and provide better products and services or rebels without a cause using it to turn your life into a living hell for shits and giggles or rob you of your hard earned money.
If you’ve got a legitimate data footprint it can help you at least recover any damage inflicted from a stray attack or prove your innocence even, if somebody is spoofing your metadata to engage in criminal activity.
