Good hosting provider for for high volume sites

What are some good hosting companies that can handle 60 million visitors a month? Say the page you use is only 2kb, would hostgator get pissed and suspend your account if you were getting 2 million hits a day, even if each page load only equated to, say, 2kb?

I mean wouldn't 120GB of bandwith be enough? Or would just the shear number of visitors, however small the page is, make them complain? I would think 1 TB would be MORE than plenty for one month's worth.

I know H0stgat0r says unlimited, but most of us know that's bullshit... I wonder if they would get pissed at 60 million visitors per month, even though each visitor only uses up 2kb?

Can you guys throw out some good hosting providers who could handle 2 million 2kb hits per day without complaining, crashing, or canceling the hosting account?

is a hard question to me, dude. I have to fight every single month with different hosts because they never provide the service they offer. Sad but true.

If you have 2M visitors a day, you will make enough to get a dedicated server... I am with SingleHop and I am happy so far(well, over a year).

Yep Bro, for that kind of traffic you should go with a dedicated server. Or at least try a VPS with a good bandwidth to use.
Otherwise, hosts will kick you website, I was getting a hard time from hosts 'till got a VPS and a Dedi, and my traffic not that big as yours.

Cagefighter- To handle 2 million visitors per day, is there a certain amount of RAM or a certain sized hard drive that my dedicated server(s) will need? I figure I'll need 1TB of bandwith per month, and I probably don't even need a TB if each page load is 2KB, but I never understood how much RAM or how big a hard drive I would need.

In a situation where you get 2+ million visitors a day, it's not the bandwidth usage you have to worry about, it's the sheer volume of requests coming into the server and the power needed to process those requests.

You'd be well advised to use something like a dedicated server from a company that provided gigabit access (1000+ mbps) rather than lower volume bandwidth like 10mbps or 100mbps.

Look into a server from a company like 10tb.com that provides wide open pipes and powerful servers that can handle all those requests and the processor power to do them.

Month to date: 371877219

Per day on avg about 18-20 Million
However last week was so Dead guessing the holidays..

bout a 60% drop but today my numbers are looking better

11681908 so far at 8:30 EST time

Been growing and rackspace support guys are awesome!

My only advise to you with ur volume
is negotiate! They will try and crush you with their prices

But i promise you ive used everything from hostgator, netwisp, ace-net, eyow, webhost4life, and some others i cant even think of and even some Chinese servers i cant ever remember the names.

Rackspace has been the best for me with the volume.

They used to host youtube before google bought them, at least thats what their sales team told me when i asked if they can handle the volume.

The 1st server is quad core 500 gb hd, and to be honest have no clue how much ram guessing 4-8 the second 2 are smaller servers dual core, 250gb hd ram about the same.

If you couldn't already tell, I'm pretty new to the technicalities of high volume hosting, so thanks for baring with me.

What is the hard drive needed for? Also, what is the RAM needed for?

It seems to me the only things I need is a lot of is bandwith and gigabit access since my web page is only 2-3kb. Am I mistaken?
