Good hosting provider for for high volume sites

Get A Dedicated server from FHCservers they can handle it and there prices are wow

Hey buddy,

Yes! Bandwidth is not an issue at all with rackspace. I havent had any issues with bandwidth its unlimited. My problems are never with any of that just CPU%.. to handle the loads to my mysql database thats why i have 3 servers and the load balancer to keep the cpu% where its not causing performance issues.

Hard drive space is just like any other regular desk top, its where all your files go and how much space your needing. Like if your hosting a video site and you need a ton of disk space to hold all the video content, or what ever your content is some need alot of HD space some dont, just depends on the site(s) your doing.

Since your site is only 2-3kb then yeah u dont need much disk space just the bandwidth and its unlimited so might be a cheap server for you since you really dont need much disk space.

any how good luck..

Gogobotto mentioned gigabit access (1000+ mbps) rather than lower volume bandwidth like 10mbps or 100mbps. Can rackspace do that? Do you use gigbit access yourself?

If you couldn't already tell, I'm pretty new to the technicalities of high volume hosting, so thanks for baring with me.

What is the hard drive needed for? Also, what is the RAM needed for?

It seems to me the only things I need is a lot of is bandwith and gigabit access since my web page is only 2-3kb. Am I mistaken?

You've been extremely helpful btw, I really appreciate your help.

When you start getting millions of visitors and pageviews to your site every day, there will be times when 1000's will be trying to bring up your pages at exactly the same time. The bigger the "pipe" the more can access all at once without "clogging" up that pipe and causing slowdowns and connection/node errors.

Think of the connection like a pipe. A lot of web hosts are still using a 10mb pipe but most are switching to a 100mb pipe, which is 10 times bigger. The 100mb pipe can handle 10X the connections and transfers between the server and all the visitors computers when they access your site so more people can be accessing your site at the same time.

The 1000mb or gigabit pipe is just much bigger so more people can be on your site all at once.

Hope that helps.

Edit: I just clicked the "Submit Reply" button to post this reply and ended up getting an error. I notice that BHW is a very popular site probably having tons of simultaneous requests to the server... no disrespect - this is a good reason to have gigabit access ;-)
