How to get IG to update country

Hey guys,

I wonder if anyone can help me? I am based in the UK but over the past few months had a VA in India working on my account, just liking and commenting.

A few weeks ago, I realised that all the ads that IG was showing me were from India, I asked him to turn off his location settings on IG and turned mine on hoping that IG would switch the account back to the UK.

Almost immediately the engagement and growth dropped massively. I did some research and IG says "If we can't confirm where your account is we will show your posts to fewer people"

I have stopped the VA working on the account and am flagging every add from India as inappropriate, but I have been doing this for a week or so now and there is no improvement. I have also switched back to a personal account in case that helped but no.

Does anyone know of a way to get IG to update the location of my account?

Any advice would be so helpful, I am a bit worried I have damaged the account.

Try to log off all devices except yours, in Login Activity. Plus, start to get organic followers + engage with them. It should slightly go back to normal / improve

Ok thank you, i will try to log off all devices as you say.

Its difficult though to get organinc followers to engage with as IG wont show my posts to people...

I guess that the problem is that IG started to think the account was in INdia, and now sees all the logins from UK IP addresses so is confused and is lowering my engagment?

Do you thin that sounds right?

That's true.
And TikTok identifies it through IMEI number of the device + phone carrier. Sometimes I think Instagram does it too but not officially.

There was a tool around not long ago, not sure if it was on BHW, setup proxy from your home IP and give it to your VA

You might force them to see your posts, in that case. If posting doesn't work, maybe try :
- F/U
- M/S
- IG ads
- Shout outs, etc.

In my personal knowledge by experience if Instagram will not bother you with "Was this you?" notifications and phone verification then your account will be normalized within 7-14 days. And you will get back to your original level of engagement.

If Instagram bothers you with those notifications then buy 4G Mobile proxy and engage with English accounts through phone for some days.

I might try ads as you say.

I don't know where to find shoutouts but that would be a very good option I think.

I worry that F/U looks spammy. Am M/S is way beyond me i think!

I now I am kicking myself. I saw such good growth for a bit and though everything as going well
