Google Broad Core Update December 2020

This is very heart breaking, looks more like penalty just like the rest of us.

My 1-year old site lost -84%.
My 2-year old site lost 10%
Meanwhile, my 6 months old site gained +200%
No noticeable change on my remaining sites.

My take, Google doesn't care about all the sh**t they preach, making more money is what matters most to them.
Did you notice anything that may have caused the loss in the first two sites and the boost in the latter?

My conclusion after the second wave, only for my niche.

Most important:
Links - not just the number. Quality is a factor, internal linking is a factor. Natural occurring links (made by users of your site) - very important.

Less important:
Rich content - you can go on with just quality content, no need for xxxx words in your pages.
Site speed - yup, you can win this without the best metrics.
Social signals - meh.
Site age - obviously, older sites with good signals will rank better. There was also room for newcomers, I don't see a big gap here. Google is trying to mix old and new.

Annoying things that are still not solved and probably will never be solved:
Authority spam/Youtube spam/Parasites spam/Hacking spam.

There are many other particular aspects depending on the type of site, like uptime on spikes, user metrics, branded searches and so on.

I repeat, this is only for what I am interested in. Take it more like a personal conclusion, for my site(s).

Start a white hat site they said, it will be a great long term investment they said :D

i agree with the conclusion. links seems to be playing more of ranking factor than it did a year ago.

I lost more than 70% traffic from one of my site and zero sign of recovering. I have a few sites. Most of them got hit.

How unlucky am I?

I was discussioning to sale 2 websites with FEinternational and Empireflippa. Total worth of those website were 80K+ and both sites got hit this Google update.

I never face much problem from Google update that happened earlier.
So, It is clear something fundamentally changed by Google.
It's very tough to identify that issue.

Why? Whats on Jan 10?
This happens every year during November December Google updates their core to get max profit as it is a shopping time. So websites selling, or subscriptions, or earning will have to invest in adv to stay on top for profit.

I agree with you.

Even though I have nothing to be afraid about, I'm still concerned for this.
