It is a bit hard to see what was exactly targeted with this update.
EMD have a pretty hard time though. The bonus they used to have seems almost gone now.
It is sometimes ridiculous, I can't manage to get the top spot for my brand name which is not a competitive keyword whereas the homepage ranks in the top5 of a huge keyword.

Every time Google is updated, SEO service providers can have more new customers.

Of the rankings that matter (i.e. I got traffic from it) it seems that it bounced back from slipping to the second page randomly. A few of my terms I went from bottom of page 1 to page 3 and now it's in the top half of the first page. Overall I appear to be ranking as good or better than I was before.
What threw me off is that the same search volume isn't there for some of the terms. Some of the terms themselves dropped off 90% so most of what I saw oddly enough appears to be coincidental to the update (although the update really threw off my rankings for 4-5 days. I appear to be within 10% of my normal volume.
On general terms I went from like page 4-5 to not found but big brands typically rank for those and 1-2 word generic terms aren't generally the bread-and-butter for affiliate sites anyways.

This is very heart breaking, looks more like penalty just like the rest of us.
My 1-year old site lost -84%.
My 2-year old site lost 10%
Meanwhile, my 6 months old site gained +200%
No noticeable change on my remaining sites.
My take, Google doesn't care about all the sh**t they preach, making more money is what matters most to them.
