The vaccine is rolling out

I'm not criticizing them, I'm talking about the kind folks who are marching against the vaccine. Their leaders rushed to get vaccinated.
Would it be fair to say that your major filter when viewing the pandemic/vaccine is through a lens of politics bro? Seems to be, but shouldn't be.

That thread is full of bullshit.
And another thread that shows the Dunning Kruger effect. So many people thinking they're smarter than 99.9% of scientists because some random thread on BHW says "VacCine bAD!!!" or because they read some out of context quote from some idiot pseudoscientist that is desperate for publicity.
The other thread was talking about children taking the vaccine. I posted a fact that from Feb - July in the US, only 120 covid deaths were of children while (I think from memory it was) 300,000 deaths were adults, with my argument being that children particularly shouldn't be vaccinated.

Seems like a fairly logical argument, no?

It's possible to be shitty but good at your job at the same time. While some Pharmaceutical companies have done many bad things over the years, they have also managed to produce medicines that have saved lives. Not all are terrible either.
There's hardly a company on the S&P500 that isn't shitty in some way.
The point of even discussing pharma was that they are responsible for producing and distributing the vaccine and hardly have a strong track record for ethics. They are hugely profit driven, in this situation and in all others, and it's rich to say that they have a primary goal of healing people from disease. That's it.

Do not fool yourselves.. There is a flu vaccine right? But the flu still kills tens of thousand in the USA and worldwide every year.. CORRECT?

So, what is the point that you're getting at?
Are they lying about the effectiveness of the vaccine?

You're right. If more people took the flu vaccine there would probably be fewer deaths.

The very very very simple point is that the goals of big pharma are often not aligned with the goals of their consumers. Make whatever conclusion from that you want.

Two simple questions back to you now mate:

1. If you're happy to take the vaccine, and do, then you will be protected. In that case, why do you care if other people do or don't take it?

2. Are you arguing from a pragmatic perspective (ie. you want people to take it to make you safer) or are you arguing from a philosophical perspective (ie. it's universally wrong for people not to take the vaccine)?

That's pretty much true of any profit-driven enterprise, so a failure in capitalism?

Should we privatize pharmaceutical companies?

Would you refuse cancer treatment if the treatment was developed from a for-profit company/

No, by suggesting big pharma are only for-profit and shouldn't be trusted, you're insulating a conspiracy theory of some sort. I'm trying to understand what you think the conspiracy theory is?

People from BHW should ask for a review copy of vaccine. Like they do in most of the sellers thread

(Don't forget to answer my previous questions)

Yeah a failure of capitalism for sure. What you thought I was going to defend capitalism to the death? It has problems, often significant problems. Other frameworks do too. There isn't a perfect one.

Also I would argue that the mass bribing of government and the mass addicting of a population to opiates isn't "pretty much true of any profit-driven enterprise", and that big pharma are a hyper-aggressive form of capitalism that has a dramatically higher impact on the world order than 99.99999999% of other capitalistic enterprises.

Should we privatize pharmaceutical companies?
Most are. You think big pharma is run by governments?

Would you refuse cancer treatment if the treatment was developed from a for-profit company/
That's a non-sequitur. You only ever need cancer treatments if you have cancer, right?

Have a guess what the death rate of cancer is compared to the death rate of covid? I wouldn't refuse a cancer treatment if Hitler himself was administering it.

Can you do me a favour and answer both questions directly so we can discuss that instead of deflecting by trying to inject the term "conspiracy theory" into the discussion.

Stop with the basic little tricks and just be honest man. Answer those two questions would you?

I don't disagree with you on Purdue, they are incredibly shitty. But I don't anything about them bribing governments, what country was that? I know they spent a ton of money convincing medical professionals that OxyContin wasn't addictive.

Is it only a mistrust of Vaccines from pharmaceuticals that you have, or other medicines? Antihistamine OK, or not OK?

Thank you for your knowledge Dr. Jonnyah. I appreciate your eagerness to reply to every covid thread on BHW just for educating those who are questioning the holy vaccine.
Nah, just low tolerance for nonsense, like the great reset conspiracy you posted earlier.

Indeed they are.

It's called lobbying. Calling it anything other than bribery is a joke. It's bribery, that's legal, and particularly occurs in the US but also occurs to a lesser degree internationally.

Yes, other businesses use this same route of bribery, but big pharma pump a much larger amount into it because of their unique needs for protection against getting sued back to the stone age.

I know they spent a ton of money convincing medical professionals that OxyContin wasn't addictive.
Yeah they did, and the doctors/GPs that went along with that should be in fucking jail too. Evil money-grubbing cunts that sent their kids to private schools on the backs of tens of thousands of other children getting addicted to legal heroin. Should be publicly hung, the doctors and the pharma reps.

Is it only a mistrust of Vaccines from pharmaceuticals that you have, or other medicines? Antihistamine OK, or not OK?
I have a degree in a scientific field. If you're asking if I believe in science, probably more than most.

Directly, vaccines have caused a lot of good in the world, but humans can be devious motherfuckers, as we've already established. Do I distrust all vaccines - no. Would I take a vaccine in a situation where I personally don't believe there to be a significant risk - no. Why is that - because I don't want to introduce biological risk into my life unnecessarily, which I believe is the case with being one of the first people to take the covid vaccine under these conditions.

Do I care if you take the vaccine - no. Do you care if I take the vaccine - yes. That's something I find interesting.

No, when he was implying it was planned since 2016.

I only really have a problem when someone bases their decisions on incorrect information.

There's a ton of fringe ideas in these threads:
  • Lose of freedoms and free speech is linked to Covid and part of the new world order
  • Microchips being implanted
  • That the mRNA vaccine is programming your cells with DNA
  • That the number of excess deaths has been lied about
  • That Covid deaths are not real.
  • That viruses don't exist.

This:

(1. If you're happy to take the vaccine, and do, then you will be protected. In that case, why do you care if other people do or don't take it?

2. Are you arguing from a pragmatic perspective (ie. you want people to take it to make you safer) or are you arguing from a philosophical perspective (ie. it's universally wrong for people not to take the vaccine)?)
