It would be full of spam, scam attempts, random talk and also very volatile.

Information contained in a thread helps people with mutual interest exchange ideas. Chat room hosts no 'subject' and thus open to spam/criticism. It's an ambiguous concern.

Lounge will suffice.

Terrible idea the whole point of a forum is content, why distract people away from that.

There would also be tons of spammers which staff wouldn't be able to deal with.

Both of which update immediately in the same style as a chat. As mentioned above there is little benefit to either party in the way we like to moderate or the value added to the forum with a separate chat which, with the volume of users we have and the varied topics being discussed, quickly becomes incomprehensible
