Just use GeneratePress + Gutenberg blocks. Way faster, free and even easier to create websites now.

I switched from Enfold which had a page builder and reduced my Database size from wp_options database size from 1.7mb to 300k - that is an insane difference.

It took me 1 day to switch from Enfold and redesign in GeneratePress (102 page website), admittedly it looks even better than it did with Enfold.

Seriously, give it a try and get away from bloated tools.

YES!

The Gutenberg editor is gotten better and better over time and I would not be surprised at all if in a couple of years all page builders will become obsolete.

I am not at the moment cause, I am using Oxygen.

Far better in comparison to Elementor. I can´t say about the other page builders but, if you like, take a look at this video from the developer of Oxygen. You might think is biassed but I think it´s pretty accurate and fair.

I think you're exaggerating. Yes, the page speed is part of the Technical SEO, yet, Elementor on its own will NOT pull down your whole website unless you got a shit hosting.

Idk, from my perspective, you got this wrong, or you re paid to advertise for the oxygen builder LMFAO. Thousands of freelancers don't have an issue with that, but here come you to argue with the whole population over something you're clueless about.

did you have to recreate all of your pages in generatepress or just had to fix some configuration?

Not saying what you wrote is incorrect, but I have a site made entirely with Elementor that loads under the 8 seconds mark and is outranking very fast ones that seem to use plain HTML.

I am using Elementor and Wp Rocket to beat that negative effects of the builder. I could say if you know what are you doing and have a perspective of SEO when you are building your site you are in the right path.

A few Miliseconds up or down will not make a noticeable difference.

Rather have a nicer looking, higher converting page that loads 100ms later than an uglier one

Nowadays, you can make your website load faster while being just as pretty with Gutenberg (or Oxygen) as with Elementor. Plus, it's the safer choice in the long run because Gutenberg is here to stay, and switching from Elementor or other page builders later is a pain in the ass.

Btw, Google announced that fast loading times will become a more important ranking factor in 2021.

Yes, when you remove Enfold it leaves all the shortcode on all the pages, but you can quickly adjust all of this.

With Gutenberg you can save templates etc. so for the blog pages etc. It was the same layout, but needed to fix the images and text - that was it.

The longest pages were the sales pages but that was also due to a re-design too.

Beautiful pages are still better than slightly faster loading pages that look like a 1995 website. So it depends a lot on your web design skill. If you were a CSS whiz you probably wouldn't be using a page builder...

I strongly believe people liking your content, staying on pages longer, coming back / remembering your site is far more important than gaining like 5% speed by having bare ass minimum code.

Edited to add: If you are having speed issues, have you optimized your images? That's a huge sink if you have not.

in my own test, generatepress without elementor provided the best pagespeed metrics. once elementor came in the picture, the metrics went down by 5% for both mobile and desktop. interestingly, if you enable elementor pro, it reduced the metrics by 7-8%.

i think for most, wordpress own gutenberg should be enough to address most needs. using gutenberg would not cause any issues when you change your themes.
