It always has been, and always will be about control. Whether you trust the vaccine or not doesn't really matter (I don't). We as a population are giving more control over our lives to those that lead us. Control that you don't get back barring revolution/rioting. This will affect NZ/Australia as well even if you don't see the effects yet.

A perfect example is free speech in your Australia. The people of Australia gave up that right and determined that they should let their leaders decide what constitutes as hate speech and what doesn't, and that is something you will very likely never get back unless something drastic happens.

How does this relate to covid? Well going into the future, you can expect countries to be able to shut us down at a whim on anything they determine to be harmful for us whether they are indeed harmful or not. You can expect to have to 'prove' that you are clean to enter establishments and public spaces very soon. And we still don't know what these things are going to spiral into. Giving away control is always a very slippery slope. Just ask anyone that lived in a former communist country

A Vaccine Passport or card that shows that you have had the vaccine in order to resume "normal life" adds a whole new level to this cluster f*ck.

Imagine owning a business and having to turn away customers if they don't have proof of vaccination.

This part is not logical thinking. There are thousands of doctors in the world who believe that all vaccines are the work of the devil and possess you and turn you into Satan's puppet. This particular vaccine is highly politicized, and there is a lot of money to be made in casting doubt on the vaccine, especially if someone eventually dies as a direct result of the vaccine. Being a doctor or scientist in this field does not prevent someone from being a crazy person.

Again, source for that claim? There's no evidence for that. It's been speculated, but no evidence to disprove or prove it.

I mean, you try and change the labor laws in France and they start throwing chairs through windows. Are you saying the french government will lock places down due to covid or health warnings if protests start in Paris because the fire department is being privatized?

I would be more worried about far right-wing rhetoric gaining footholds in American politics than I would about having to wear a mask or get a vaccine.

None of us know yet exactly how this will change the world moving forward, but it's safe to assume things like mandatory vaccines/screening to take part in society will become a reality, freedom of movement will be restricted, businesses will be forced to comply. Eventually we will probably move towards a cashless society because cash is "dirty" and it's for our protection. Every action and dollar will be accounted for.

You have to think about the longterm effects with these things. Ask anybody from a former communist regime and they will tell you it started little by little, in terms of freedoms being taken away. Whether you know it or not yet, that's not a world you and your loved ones want to live in.

I suggest you watch a movie called 'demolition man' if you want to see what all these 'right wing nuts' are afraid of, and why they are desperately trying to hold onto every single human right they were born with.
