Someone can share observations of what is good and what is bad for Google with the December update? Can you share some articles describing the factors of recalculation of site positions?

Initial observations show that authority / power got yet another boost.

It's like more brutal May update.

Not necessarily, I've seen some posts where people recovered from may update with this december update.

Every year it is the same, people asking why and how... The answer is simple people: ADWORDS!

It is just reshuffling the index so people who have enjoyed free traffic will be pushed to AdWords to keep their business running, this year they are late because usually Google updates just before the black Friday rush, lol.

Don't read too much into the SERPS right now, it will go back as it was before the update after the holidays!

Haven't their authority grown in the meantime?
Supposedly, some didn't even do anything.
Very tough to say as I can only comment from the comments I've read on another thread.

Yes. % of these in the overall picture would be a useful metric. We will never now though I guess :)

We will get to know soon. Right now, it is in Google Dance stage.
Why is it done? To provide more value to people on their search with constant improvement.
One internal win for them is to make more people move to Google Ads to have increased revenue.

For Google,

#GOOD : Quality, readable articles & natural links.

#BAD : low quality, poor article & irrelavant links

If you do good, you will get good ranking improvement for keywords.

If you do bad, you will be affected on Google updates.

Interesting. I think you might be right. When my expired domain ads is the only thing I can rely on. Makes sense. Thanks

No, it had nothing to do with search quality, It almost never does, if you study the medical and the tech SERPS you will see that there are tons and tons of outdated garbage (really going back to 2005) ranking the first page right under the ads lol

Updates are there to serve Google, never forget that fact!
