I never expected it to be easy, haha.

I think you have to put in a good effort in whatever you do to reap the benefits later.

Hello guys,

Just an update on my AAS account.

screenshot-mail-google-com-2020-06-08-10-20-32.png

I will be posting my goals update this weekend.

Have a good one ;)

LATE JUNE UPDATE & JULY GOALS

Hello, all BHers... :anyway:

giphy.gif

If you ever wondered, I'm alive and so is the journey. But the work I put in last month wasn't close to being satisfactory on my side.

My main disappointment is again not putting in enough effort in terms of writing. Last month I wrote 14k words whereas I had been again hoping for an average of 1k a day to reach 30k. Seems impossible for me at the moment for a variety of reasons, mainly my lack of discipline. In total, I published 5 articles in June.

But it's not all doom and gloom. :)

I did manage to acquire 2 DF links from High Authority, niche-related forums. The goal reached here.

Also, my traffic target was comfortably crushed. In total, I had 812 organic users. The result shows a nearly 100% month-to-month growth when compared to May.

june-to-may-traffic.png

Week-to-week organic traffic growth looks promising as well...

week-to-week-traffic.png

And so does the growth pattern in GSC...

sc-last-6-months.png

On the sales front, I'm kinda disappointed. I had just 6 sales for the whole of June, and it brought in $6.52. I'm wondering if other people doing the AAS have noticed a slump in conversion as well? Is 3.35% CR normal nowadays?

june-amazon-earnings.png

/JUNE-GOALS-SUMMARY/

Number of new articles to be added:
8-10 / 5 - 3 short
Total words to be written: 30k-35k - 14k - 16k short
Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3 / 2 - GOAL REACHED
Organic users in June: 650-700 / 812 - GOAL SURPASSED
Total sales to be made: >10 / 6 - 4 short
Total revenue to be earned: >$20 / $6.52 - $13.48 short

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And the plan for July is as follows...

giphy.gif

/JULY-GOALS/

Number of new articles to be added:
8
Total words to be written: 25-35k
Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3
Organic users in June: 1300-1400
Total revenue to be earned: >$15

Let the work continue... have a good day all! :)

Hello Thaidreamer!

I just joined BHW, all new to IM and sometimes overwhelmed by all the different aspects that come into play!
You started a great journey, from what I've seen yet the route you chose takes a LOT of patience and consistency!
Keep going man! Find the daily motivation, seeing you falling short on your own goals should motivate you even more to reach them the next month!
I certainly do hope you manage to get to the point you feel really comfortable at this, I will for sure follow your journey and should take an example!

More than welcome, we all dream, lots of us have given up on making dreams reality, or worse given up on their dreams... You are on route to make yours true! We all know it is possible, it takes determination!
Did I miss you mention what country you are from? I know we're both from the EU, if i say we speak Dutch, French and German you know where I'm from :)

/ JULY / AUGUST (the lazy months) COMBINED UPDATE /

Hello, fellow BlackHatters!

Long time, no see.

July and August weren't nearly as productive as I'd have liked them to have been. Both months included lots of distractions for the work on my site.

Some were necessary (like my mum's website that I needed to take over, which included re-optimizing it and changing the outdated layout to a mobile-friendly one),

Some weren't that necessary (like going to weekend-long party trips with my friends). Hey, though, it's summer and Covid-19 is going to cause places to shut down again in Europe from September/October so I wanted to make the most of it. Especially that I might be leaving the country, family and friends pretty soon (as soon as the borders in Thailand re-open for tourists). No hard feelings here.

Just because I didn't meet my content goals, doesn't mean I've done 0 work. And it certainly doesn't mean I haven't reached my content and revenue goals!

Let's start with earnings!

In July
I hit the double figures for the first time, earning just over $25. I was a happy dude! :)

july-earnings.png

In August, the earnings more than doubled. I finished the month just south of $60. I'm a happy dude! :)

august-earnings.png

How about traffic?

The over-100% growth in my monthly earnings really pleases me, especially when we consider the fact that the monthly organic traffic grew by "just" 34%.

traffic-growth.png

Staying on the traffic path, I'm pleased to say that I have experienced week-to-week organic growths for 10 weeks straight. The great run ended only last week.

week-to-week.png

Furthermore, GSC impression stats look pretty okay to me.

gsc.png

As do my position movements...

serprobot.png

And what has been done on my side?

During July and August, I have written 6 new articles with a total word count of 19581. I have also updated some of my existing articles.

The two months also saw me discover many more easy-to-mid keywords that I'm writing the articles for at this moment in time.

What are the current website stats?

Content-wise,
it looks like in the image below.

stats.png

SEO-wise, Ahrefs shows me this: (the DR will actually be closer to 2.0 as one strong backlink couldn't be crawled by their tool but I just checked and it's working)

ahrefs.png

Revenue-wise, it looks like this:

amazon-earnings.png

If we take last month's earnings as an indicator of my current progress...
  • Monthly Earnings: $59
  • Monthly Goal: $1000
  • Current Progress / Goal: $59 / $1000
Currently, my site has reached ~6% of the goal I set when creating this thread.

I still have well over a year to go. And I'm confident I'm gonna reach it sooner!

Work continues!

/ WHAT IS THE PLAN FOR SEPTEMBER? /

Till Saturday (that is 05.09), I will be working on optimizing existing articles on my site. That includes:
  • uploading newly-discovered LSI keywords
  • updating product boxes
  • updating some of the products in tables
During the next few days, I also plan to gain 1-2 do-follow links from niche-related forums.

Finally, I plan to play a bit with the website's speed. I have the WProcket downloaded and I'm gonna test a few things here and there.

On 05.09, I'm leaving for a week-long holiday to Greece.

Since the proper work this month will start more or less in the middle of it, the goals for September are as follows:
  • Number of new articles to be added: 3-4
  • Total words to be written: 12k-15k
  • Total do-follow links to be acquired: 2-3
  • Organic users in September: 2600-3000
  • Total revenue to be earned: >$75
  • Additional goals: homepage improvement, page speed load time improvement
I wish you all a super productive month!

Nice thread mate! I am on same boat as you are. I have few questions for you

1. Do u use Amazon buttons for the "Buy now"? Because I only use paragraphs with wordings of " Check Price On Amazon" and just put my product link on that paragraph. I put my product link on pictures and product names and on the "Check price on amazon" paragraph thing

2. What is your link building strategies?

3. I am using adsense and Amazon affiliate, is it ok to use both?

Hi mate,

Ad 1. I created my own buttons with the AmazPro plugin and they look like this:

check-price.png

In some articles, I also use additional links in the form of text like you do but most of the time it's buttons and Showcase boxes.

Ad 2. Nowadays, I build most of my links from niche-related forums and message boards. I created my own list of these, registered at each and I'm slowly building up my post counts before submitting a link to one of my articles. From this or next month, I plan to additionally invest in Guest Posts now that the site is earning something.

Ad 3. Unless you have really good traffic, I think it's difficult to make good money off Adsense. And if you are using their ads in your "money" articles, I think you might be actually distracting the user from clicking one of the product links.

If you want to additionally monetize through CPC, consider Ezoic. I've heard great reviews about them and I plan on signing up myself this month.

I'd say you can easily point out the overall success of the journey by how the author/owner of the journey thread writes and structure his journey posts.

Your posts are very informative, precise, and well-structured.

It doesn't surprise me a second that you're seeing great growth with your website.

Keep going!

Hello BHers!

I need some advice here.

Something weird (I think) has happened.

Apart from monetizing the US market, I applied for the OneLink tool that allows me to monetize traffic from Canada and the UK.

I've already collected 3 sales from the UK last month and got approved.

This month, I have had collected 3 sales from Canada and I just received an email from them that my application has been rejected and my account for Amazon.ca closed. This is the reason:

canada.png

The link they sent in this email is the link with my US tag. But, since I'm using the OneLink tool from Amazon, shouldn't that be directing them to Amazon.ca store? From what I've checked, it is.

Do you guys have any idea what went wrong here and how can I appeal this?

¡Hola Amigos & Amigas!

I'm alive and continuing with the journey, with work done in all 3 past months that I haven't updated the thread with. These were 3 busy and definitely a bit crazy months for me.

If you read my first post in this thread, you will have learned that the biggest reason for me starting my first online marketing journey and leaving 9-5 was to be able to work remotely from anywhere I like and build my semi-passive income online.

The goal was to travel to Asia, Thailand in particular. That goal got crushed by Covid-19. Just 3 months ago I pretty much gave up on pursuing the dream of leaving Europe in 2020 but then someone recommended me to check out Mexico. And yeah, it clicked! Basically a few days after learning it's possible to travel to Mexico and get a 6-month visa on arrival, I thought "there will never be a perfect time to do this", I packed my suitcase and left the country a week later.

I've been in Mexico for a full month now and I couldn't be happier! Now that I have settled, I hope a new environment - one that I enjoy - will lead to the most productive months of my work. Hopefully, by the time I have to leave, Asia will open its borders too.

So these are the month-to-month updates regarding the progress of content on my site, traffic and earnings for September, October and November:
  • September
September was by far the laziest month of the whole journey. I wrote and added just 1 article consisting of 1790 words. Let's move on from this one quickly...

september-content.png

Traffic-wise, I also experienced the slowest month-to-month progress regarding Organic. Serves me right!

september-to-august-traffic.png

Earnings-wise, I experienced a drop compared to August by about 33%. Well deserved for being a lazy prick!

I like the green arrows for all metrics, though!

us-earnings-september.png

September brought $38,97 of the $1000 monthly goal.
  • Goal Completion: 3,9%

  • October
Content-wise, 4 new articles were added consisting of 7589 words. Getting there...

october-content.png

Traffic-wise, a much better improvement with 46% more organic users than in September. It's also the second month in a row when the site enjoys good growth in other metrics such as BR or Time-On-Site.

october-to-september-traffic.png

Earnings-wise, I more than doubled September's earnings. I also earned $3USD on my Canadian account and $0,5 USD on the UK account.

earnings-us-october.png

Oh, and I made my first peanuts on Aliexpress, too (screenshot below).

aliexpress-october.png

October brought a total of $91,42 USD of the $1,000 monthly goal.
  • Goal Completion: 9% ⬆

  • November
November, even if crazy (and believe me, it was crazy in my first month here :anyway:), proved to be one of the more productive months for me. And I've got strong hopes I can build on that in the last month of this batshit crazy year!

Content-wise, I wrote and added 6 new articles with a total of 14,325 words. Much better!

november-content.png

Traffic-wise, I've had pretty amazing growth, although the last days of it were probably highly influenced by the Black Friday / Cyber Monday shopping spree.

november-to-october-traffic.png

Earnings-wise, I noted considerable progress as well. My three Amazon accounts earned $161 in total.

earnings.png

And my Aliexpress account chipped in with few more bucks, too!

aliexpress-november.png

November brought a total of $171,35 USD of the $1,000 monthly goal.
  • Goal Completion: 17%
What's also making me happy is the week-to-week traffic growths I experienced for 6 weeks straight lately and looks like this one will be the 7th in a row.

6-week-to-week.png

Google Search Console progress looks pretty okay too...

gsc.png

And last but not least, the stats in SERP are improving regularly, too.

position-stats.png

There are still as many as 8 articles not indexed by Google, so waiting on that to happen soon.
  • December Plan
In short, I want the last month of 2020 to be the most productive one for me. Now that I've settled in a new place, I'm setting myself ambitious goals that I hope to be able to celebrate reaching on this New Year's Eve.

Since I have around 10 easy-to-mid keywords to write the articles about, I will focus my work mostly on content as that's clearly the best way forward.

At the same time, now that the site is earning something, I will invest my first $ in link-building. I'm targeting two high DA niche edits and guest posts from BHW. I will keep you updated once I pick them!
  • Articles to be added: 8-10
  • Words: 25-30k
  • DF links: 3 (2 bought from here +1 free from niche-related forum link)
  • Organic traffic goal: 9-10k
  • Revenue: $200
  • Other goals: site speed improvement
Have a good month, all of you!

Awesome progress! I have a similar post thread on here too. Just broke above $100 in Amazon per month but I need to spend more time on optimizing and adding content to keep it growing like you. Good luck!
