Why This Strange Backlinks? Custom CMS

Hello!

So I have a website (custom CMS) that has strange backlinks that go to my own images.

I will be happy to share the URL to anybody that wants to help a bit, as I don't know if this could be hurting the SEO.....

Most of those backlinks go to mydomain /inc/class/foreign/PHPThumb/PHPThumb.php?src=urlofimage

Does this happened to you with a custom CMS?

There are like 250 backlinks like this an it's driving me crazy....

Exactly, it creates a thumbnail, but it's strange because some backlinks come from similar niches as mine, could this be some kind of scraping stuff?

They are DF links....

I guess they are offloading thumbnail creation process on your server.

So instead of downloading an image, creating thumbnail and uploading it, they are simply putting a link to your php file with image source.

As long as the same domain is creating it, definitely not classified as spam. But yes, to make it look clean you may need to get rid of it or add a no-index tag to them

I guess the only solution is to delete those backlinks, but I'm not sure if that will harm the web....

In which case they are hotlinking to your domain files somewhere, correct ?

Indeed. Hotlinking is the correct word.... there are tons of domains doing this with my images!

I see that you have a huge photo gallery with lots of useful photographs which other site owners find easy to hotlink. Either you can stop hotlinking or gain mileage out of it by watermarking the photographs with your URL on them.
