[CASE STUDY] 100 Medium Articles = $$$

Pay attention i read medium tos and you shouldnt promote other sites in theory
I am not promoting other sites, except affiliate links. It's allowed in the ToS mate, don't know what you're on about.
This is interesting. I'd love to see results after a month. I hope you achieve the target.
No problems so far, let's see where this ends :D

No way of telling CPM accurately yet, only 30 something views total so far.

KW Difficulty is 5-20 when I check them on Ubersuggest.
I noticed medium takes around two days to get indexed by Google, you easly get First Google Page with this difficulty without backlinks? And about keyword density?

1.6$ CPM so far :(

Lucky for me I have another way of monetizing the articles (allowed in the ToS). I'll start adding promotional banners in most articles pretty soon too. Current aff-links pay 25$ on each sale, I'll also start adding rev-share affiliate links to hopefully get my CPM a lot higher. :)

I have skipped some days already because I'm lazy as fuck.

Keep it up. What i'm trying to understand is , do they pay you only when a medium user reads the article or also normal visitors?

Yeah, they only pay for their members (paying members) that read it. It calculates how much reading time that member spends on your article and what % of their total reading time of the month it is. So you can get a lot from just one reader, or just 0.01$.

Curious, did you make any profit so far?
0.29$ is profit :D I didn't spend a dime creating it all.

Do you know if the post traffic is evergreen? Are you able to see how much of the traffic is coming from google vs medium themselves? I'm assuming you'd get most of your paying traffic directly through medium.

I feel like this could be quite easily automated.

Yeah, I can see how much is internal, and how much is external. So far:
5% Internal - 95% External (Google & others)

Automation? I doubt it... I guess I could try it in a future case study.

Post traffic is evergreen yeah, not writing on Trending topics.

That's the bad part. Otherwise, if they were paying for not only their members. It could be a great arbitrage opportunity.

Most definitely. But it has it's pros though; like if you had a story blowup internally and not on Google/Social media. That means a much higher CPM and more reads than if they had another payout system.

Do you try to rank the articles you write for or do you just leave it there? Do you do any slightest of promotion at all? Interesting journey mate.

Ranking is my main focus, although I don't do any off-page SEO at all. They all are 1000-3000 words each, so they should perform very well. The keywords aren't very tough, I guess my articles just need to age.

do you have any recommendations or guide how to optimize on page SEO on medium?

@DunderMannen, you got me a bit hooked up with your thread.
Not trying to hijack it but curious.
I've tried medium before and managed to get an article to page 3 with just a few backlinks.
I'm trying to post more articles now (on a seperate account) but bloody medium is weird, sometimes I can post only 1 article a day, sometimes i can post a few. It's very slow but at times I scrape some articles so it takes me like 5 mins extra to scrape articles for medium.
I figured that:
1. you have more freedom with an aged account.
2. indexing is obviously easy (at times, I use medium to index some of my links).
3. Decent articles (even the scraped ones) will rank for easy keywords.
4. Persistence and Patience are the virtues.

Kind of lost interest in this journey as I don't know what to write about anymore lol

Articles: 30/100
Money earned:
0.71$ through Medium Partners, 0$ through affiliate marketing.

Tomorrow I'll look over what kind of niches I can go for, or what subjects I can write 70 more articles about in the crypto/tech niche. Also will have to rely on affiliate links for monetization pretty much, current CPM is 1.4$ :anyway:
