Hey guys!

So, I was thinking about starting a journey in blogging that I know will take years to fructify, but I enjoy writing and have been wanting to get into internet marketing for some time now. It would be nice to eventually make a full time living, but I'm happy with any supplemental income in the future.

1. Should I learn SEO? This goes hand-in-hand with blogging, no? Do I learn SEO while I build my blogs or does writing quality content month-after-month typically take care of traffic and ranking for your sites?

2. Best free courses for blogging? Obviously I will lurk here like crazy, but I was wondering if anyone knew of some legit, free courses, or maybe some (actually) helpful Youtubers.

3. Best site/hosting to start on? I don't know any Wordpress, so are there any drag-and-drop sites that are actually worthwhile/look good?

Any and all tips would be greatly recommended! Thanks a bunch!

1. Definitely learn seo. It is the best to learn it on the go, the earlier you learn it, the better your early posts will rank. When I started, I knew very little about it, and it took me about three months to get the basics, since then, my rankings improved significantly. If you just keep posting without optimizing your posts, unfortunately they are not likely to rank even in low competition niches.
2. Nothing comes to my mind. There are a lot of resources in this forum
3. I think it is the best to learn WordPress. If you want to do basic things, it is not that hard. You can get a free theme in the beginning, design doesn't matter that much when you are just starting out. Also, avoid using nulled stuff. I used namecheap shared hosting, it gets the job done. Later you will have to move to a vps.

My advice is to learn everything you can about keyword research, because if you write articles for a difficult keyword on a new website, well, good luck. Just be patient and persistent. It takes months to gain traction, so you have to motivate yourself not to give up until you see results.

There are tons of free SEO training videos on Youtube

If you'd like something more structured, try Udemy. There are free SEO courses there too.

Spend some time reading here on Black Hat world. Yes I would recommend learning about SEO but there are other ways to make money.

Really when you get into hosting. If you take all the big guys they are all about the same. For every positive review you will find someone that is not happy with them. Find you one ask questions, keep your own backups and get going.

Thanks much! I'll definitely learn SEO as I go...it seems to make sense to do so.

Thanks for your reply! Definitely scouring Youtube, but the hard part is deducing who is good when you don't know what exactly it is you're looking for :) But I will base it off of comments/reviews! I was thinking of checking Udemy as well yes.

Thanks! Yeah, there are a ton of ways to make money, I'm just trying to pick things that will be prevalent in the long-term and that I enjoy.

Learning SEO would be more useful in your blogging. Also thrre are thousands of sites available on the Internet that would provide you more useful info on these topics.

1. Definitely, if you want to rank your website and attract many audiences you should optimize each of your blog posts.
2. emarketinginstitute.org - free blogging course for beginners with certificate, you can also try watching video courses, it helps me a lot.
3. You can utilize Medium or Weebly for a plain drag and drop builder.

1. Yes you need to learn SEO as the foundation of your blogging, a lot of bloggers just start creating a blog post that no demand search on Google hence their content will never be found on search even after 6 months. I would like to suggest you learn SEO basic first like On-Page SEO then you can start to create your first blog post, using this way your work will not waste, no need to work twice to revise it later in the future. The second job like promoting your blog (link building) can be done while generating another blog post.
2. Agreed with other member suggestion, Udemy has a free course about SEO in structure format, while on Youtube you can learn about a specific topic on Google SEO. Also, reading thread on BHW can be a great resource to learn Google SEO since you read the compilation golden nugget information from the senior member.
3. WordPress is the best platform to start blogging, you will need to use self-hosted like Bluehost which I recommended for someone who just started since it's cheap and excellent customer support. Regarding the drop and drag sites, I would like to recommend you install the free theme from mythemshop.com and install it on your Wordpress, all the theme can be adjustable. No need to get the paid theme at the beginning, you can switch to paid one later after getting enough money.

To answer number 3 question: You can learn wordpress on youtube
