Everyone thought Grant Cardone was some amazing business genius.. look at that joker now. It's hard to know who's legit and who's full of shit nowadays because so many of them pump themselves up with fake rented shit and their specialised skill is acting, not business.

If someone getting praise from the Rock is your barometer of whether they're worth listening to, you might want to rethink the value you place on celebrities, most of which are the last people in society you should have respect for. The Rock's not a bad actor and a really likeable guy, but if there's one thing he's done in his life that's got him to where he's at today it's steroids and bench press. His opinion of Gary V shouldn't really mean that much to you.

You don't have to be a genius to predict that blackberry was a shitty phone. CEO of Linkedin, Mastercard, and especially Rock is nobody to me. That's all a matter of choice: some like Karl Marx, others like Gary, etc.

If I listen to someone it's not because of the guests they can interview, but because of who they are and where they are. If I want to be there I will probably listen to that advice, while I like Gary's wealth I don't like the way I see him. The reason why I like Jordan is that psychology and his advice can be applied anywhere and to anyone, no matter what your personality, race, or geographical position.

At the end of the day, Gary get's huge business people like the CEO of mastercard every single day. That means Gary is credible in the eyes of the big players whether you like it or not. I listen to Jordan too.

At the end of the day, it's the advice you want, and you have no idea if that advice is credible or not. So you have to judge by the persons wealth, the people around them, their fans, and then you decide.

For example all these SEO gurus, you know they are fake af because they can't even get one big guest on their videos. Simply because the big players know they are a joke. No big player in the business world will associate themselves with a joke, because it's bad publicity to the investors.

I would buy a Blackberry before I'd buy an iphone.
I'd buy a Blackberry with a full keypad from 10yrs ago, before I'd buy a brand new iphone.

Mac does more sales on their iphone than all of Microsoft, I believe, but the digital world would be crippled if it weren't for Windows.
So, someone needs to calibrate their understanding of how to quantify value.

Gary Vee is a hustler, and a shyster.
He's not an innovator.

He inherited his family's multi-million dollar wine business, and grew it from there.
He didn't start with nothing, and build a legitimate business.

He had a proven model to start with, and all he had to do was expand it, without doing anything too stupid.
It's my understanding that he entered that business at age 14, and then after college he started doing it full-time.

So, that means he was in the business for several years, and then when he started doing it full-time, it took him five years to grow the business from $3mil to $60mil.
He is now 44yrs old, and his net worth is supposedly $150mil.

So, it took him 10yrs of experience to initially grow his family's wine business.
Now, 20yrs later, he's only worth twice as much?

Obviously, he's rich, and famous, and I have no doubt that he's competent enough to be so, but it took him many years to get there, and he obviously had a lot of help to do so.
Therefore, I think it's silly how he's glorified, when you actually look at the facts.

If I started with a multi-million dollar business, I'd have big gains, too.
I've only been in Internet Marketing since 2015.

I started with $700, and now I make a small salary. LoL
In another 5yrs, I'll definitely be compounding my current gains.

Just makes me a regular dude who put in some time, and built something decent.

Maybe I'm ignorant of some of the facts of his backstory, but the core numbers don't lie.

There's no such thing as underpaid. If a person agreed to work for $x dollars x hours this is an agreement that works for both. He doesn't enslave or force anyone to work.

I don't think you know what underpaid means.

It has nothing to do with what anyone agreed to, and it doesn't mean that one has to be a slave.

Cambridge defines it as: "paid too little for the work you do"

I.e it could be a subjective thing. But I think most people would agree on some obvious cases where someone is underpaid.

Ok let me give you that he gets important guests on. So what? He interviews the CEO of Mastercard and the Rock likes him = instant respect for Gary V. I don't think so mate, that's not the kinds of metrics that are worth judging someone by.

Because the quantity doesn't matter.
What matters is what you do with what you have.

That's why I just made the argument that someone starting with money doesn't make them impressive, and it certainly doesn't mean they have the wisdom to advise others.
People who BUILD million dollar businesses don't tend to destroy themselves overnight, but people who raise venture capital, and have no experience, tend to make really stupid business decisions, which is why you seem to think all these businesses are failing.

It doesn't take a genius to NOT over-extend yourself, unless you're greedy, I guess.
The competition is also not that significant, in many fields, when I can walk through a store, and spot tons of items that are poorly designed.

Every time I shop for something, I have to shift through a sea of garbage to find something decent.
I can talk to you about the features and benefits of audio ear buds, and how most of the products on the market are trash.

I bought the statistically best pair of this product, a few months back, and they died within a month.
I can talk to you about tablets, about software, about literally hundreds of products where there is a lot of money and competition, but that doesn't mean you can't be competitive, simply by looking at what is out-there, and doing it in a better way, or some way that solves a significant pain point.

Figuring-out how to do something better is not that difficult.
When you have no capital, though, it can take some time to get there, and so it's a lot easier to do if you have some money to work with.

Part of being a Marketing Consultant is being able to take successful businesses, and apply basic marketing principles to increase their profitability.
It doesn't impress me that it took Gary Vee 10yrs+ to increase the profitability and success of his family's business.

By ratio, tons of regular guys are doing that everyday, here on BHW, and with far less.
He doesn't give advice as a guy who is building a business from nothing, and that's why I think he is being disingenuous.

Some of the stuff he teaches is also ridiculous, and impractical.
Being successful with your business isn't a matter of mental gymnastics.

I don't think he's adapted very well, at all, if it's taken him another 20yrs to double his net worth.
Makes me wonder what he's been doing during the biggest tech boom in history.

You're telling me that in the year 2000, with a $60mil business, and its liquidity, you aren't able to multiply that value?
Why wasn't he buying domain names, or bitcoin, or hopping on the SEO train, etc?

Actually, if you look it up, he did some "Angel Investing" into Facebook and Twitter, and that's mainly how he made his money. ZZZzzz...
