Does PDF Links considered as backlink?

PDF links will give you juice, but they will of course have to be indexed like any other link.

Yes, they are backlinks while they last. They will be emanating from the parasite site. It depends on how they are implemented, some edu sites will present them as a webpage. The bad thing is that their life is short, but the good thing is, once downloaded, they will forever bring traffic juice from the host's computers depending upon what you shared. So it makes sense to share something valuable to everyone.
 
Why does everyone here assume that all PDF files are deleted shortly after being published? I have some PDF files with links that have been up on sites for many years now..

I dont know, for me pdf files are still working fine. Maybe the do it to obvious?
