A year ago i saw a small channel blowing up in a short time in youtube. The channel then got terminated and then the previous owner opened another channel witht the same name and blew up again in a very short time. I got curious and i downloaded some of his videos and uploaded on my channel. There was copyrighted music in the background of the video. I think eminem ft rihanna - i love the way you lie. Amd somehow this guys was able to give me a copyright strike. Did he buy the license of the song?

a year ago the content ID detection wasn't as good as today, so now they easily detected you and strike you.
the original uploader may got only a regular claim (the music owner monetize those vidoes)

He was able to strike the videos claiming that it was his work. Unless he was eminem undercover.

there is a huge difference...

if you upload your own original video that contain eminem music in the background, most likely the music copyright owner (the music distribution companies) will only claim the music, so you lose the monetization but it will not end in a strike (most of the time)

if you copy and upload someone else original video and upload it to your channel, you will get a copyright strike regardless to the music, this is his content... if he is a creator it will get detected very quickly using the content ID technology

No. The music owner or the studio who got license of the song claimed it, not the YouTube channel owner.

I dont even remember the email adressof my channel, which is propably disabled btw. But with that i could prove it!

1. he could have registered somehow with content ID, and claiming u
but idk

2. there is a loophole method me and my friends have discovered to send fake strikes any channels , even if we dont own the content, and also with no way to dispute it.
this guy may have discovered this and using that.

but anyway i wont share such tricks as they are dangerous and negative SEO. anyone can abuse them.
also talking about it will get it patched. i use it as backup to strike my competitors.


but anyway there are a combination of methods u can use to claim/strike.
yt copyright system is fucked and broken. so fuck yt. anyone can abuse
