Yeah it affect me quite a lot. My site is NEWS website so indexing fast is a must beside, on some niche I need to update old content on old post, that need to submit re-index,too.

For News it's nearly a day which is not good. For Updated old post with new content, more than 4 days ~ a week.

That was an important feature to get it indexed in a few minutes. I think they said this feature might return in future.

With request index i would get my posts indexed in a few hours, without it i get them in 1-2 days.
Not much of a difference in my case, but for updating older posts or urls that were 301 redirected, it is a must.
I hope it will return.

I just looked at GSC and the "request index" is still there and works, are they playing with us?

They are saying that this will be just for a few weeks but who knows. They have been having problems with indexing for about six months now, if not more with them pushing out multiple "fixes" that have done nothing or made the situation worse. If they remove the force indexing functionality they can just say that the indexing issues are due to slower indexing systems based on their crawlers.

One of my blogs has seen a drop in traffic since they pushed this live too, the article screenshotted below seems to suggest a large number of people are having the same issue too. Not sure if it is an actual Google update or just more issues with the Google indexing system right now though.
