This is part of my other local journey site journey but thought it warranted a separate thread for discussion. Some of you might've remembered the Rhinoplasty Plano challenge couple of years back where Kyle Roof could rank with just Latin text and optimized using Page Optimizer Pro. I enjoy running test and knew local was a fairly low competition space so wanted to see if this is still possible.

About a week ago I setup a simple one page site with 1,500 words for a keyword with 90 searches (this may sound like not a lot but for a local term this is decent, local search is crazy inaccurate and 90 searches should hopefully bring in 100+ leads a month which is probably worth $x,xxx a month). I optimized the content with Page Optimizer Pro (I'm not affiliated with this tool in any way but I'm really enjoying using it, I've used it on a couple of sites although it's too early to discuss ranking influences). I managed to score 100/100 for this piece of content and set the site up with GSC and an indexing tool.

It's been a week and I'd sort of given up thinking Google had crawled the site and discounted it as spam but I just refreshed my rank tracker and it's finally indexed and main keyword is sitting at #38

To be honest, I'm not expecting rankings to hold but who knows. Another test I'd like to try is just with random generated text (English, not Lorem Ipsum) in case Google has perhaps included indexing filters for Latin text after the experiment couple years back, idk.

I'm going to wait a week and see if rankings climb/hold, then re-evaluate and start building some links and just see what happens.

You are really inspiring about local seo :)

Ranking #38 so fast is really good but how do you manage to climb the serps? What kind of backlink do you find useful?

Rome wasn't built in a day mate.

Not sure if you know Kyle, but if you ever get chance to sit down with him over a beer or dinner, he is such a nice and engaging guy to sit and chat to.

Now is the time, given how Google doesn't know what to do with indexing and ranking :D

PBNs, I don't bother with anything else, guest post etc. are more expensive and not as powerful unless you spend a lot.
You will rank! @Holzr
But mhehh, fun experiement but no real use...
There's plenty of use, once I rank I can figure out how to increase conversions, I sell leads to a network so all I've got to do is increase conversions and I can make money. But that's why I'm doing this, as a fun experiment to try things out and to learn more about SEO and how Google works.
Instead of Lorem Ipsum, why not add some Bacon Ipsum instead: https://baconipsum.com , and Make it Spicy .. =) Or some other random Ipsum.

Those are great links, thanks! I had no idea these sorts of things existed haha. I'm sitting here atm eating a ham and cheese omelette!
they have done that long back...its hard, not impossible :) you can do as well
rather Latin text, perhaps you should try a spin low readability article...
Yeah that's another idea I had as well, might give me some protection as well. I'll get a site up and see what happens.
Which tool U use for keyword rank check?

SERP Robot

Very true.

I've read quite a few of his articles etc. but not had the pleasure of meeting him. I've a lot of respect for him, he seems like a great guy and really knows his stuff.

They have apparently made a rule in googles guidelines because of him so I thought they maybe have a lorem ipsum filter now

Yeah this article agrees:

Doesn't surprise me yet you still see some pages indexed where developers are working on a site and Google has indexed placeholder text which is strange. This is also why I want to try a site with spun/random English content to see if I could bypass any issues. As far as I'm aware Google doesn't rank/understand based on comprehension of English. I might be wrong though.

where do you buy your domain? I think about trying out your journey myself but in a niche that required some spoon feeding lol. I think there is potential there, but lots of work.

Namecheap

Domain has been fluctuating last few months (I've not done anything with the site or built any links yet) did drop down to the 40s. Just checked rankings (not checked in weeks), just hit a new high of #34. Site was unaffected by the update then from the 11th onwards jumped up. Might have to start some link building, pretty impressed rankings have stuck after 2 months.

Any chance you can share the domain in a PM? I'm very curious about the keywords you're aiming for to target with this test

It's just a niche + city term. 250k+ population.

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile and I've been crazy busy. Not got around to building any links yet but the site is still indexed and ranked lol. Sites ~#40 for main term, best it hit #29. Whenever I get some free time I need to rank this lol.
