This is why you don't buy a macbook

I think you should make your own life decisions on what computers you get. You shouldn't care what some guy is saying on YouTube. He is a marketer. He is paid to say stuff. WAIT! Where have I been reading about that lately? Where could someone learn about such a thing?!?!

This forum literally describes why what he is doing is pure marketing. You all literally do the same thing. All computers are marketing. Literally, everything in life is marketing. Do you buy anything brand name?

Conclusion: Buy what you want and don't judge others because they buy Macbooks, Chromebooks, Monkeybooks, or Buttbooks. Who cares?

I think mine is 18.x - and no I don't want to dual boot it, that's too much hassle... Adobe, pretty much all games amongst others are not supported on Ubuntu.

Does that cause the Universe to get all confused and the sun ends up rising in the west and setting in the east?
 
For me Apple stopped being apple when they moved away from their own processor to intel. THATS where things went down hill.

My old G3 & 4 would run the latest Adobe software right up to 6 or CS I think (I think it was 6.5 may have been the last version) not many PCs at the time could do that without a cpu upgrade.

That was the appeal of them to designers or more importantly agencies it meant you could run a design house on set hardware and still be able to afford the software updates I think Photoshop back in the day was 3500+ for a studio licence without having the additional cost of upgrading hardware for 10+ work stations!

Not just that but the thing just used to "work" back then I think even the price was higher there was no comparison to anything else like it on the market in terms of longevity.

Now take todays "Macs" pain in the ass.. I got a 2012 Mac mini that is still working even though now it's starting to show it's age but I don't push it as hard anymore, day to day around the house I have a MacBook Air. Again it just works and does the job. That said BOTH of these machines are my last apple devices I think in todays market where hardware and performance is concerned there are better alternatives out there.

Anyone now who has an argument for "Mac vs Pc" is a pure fan boy the company and hardware is no where close to what it used to be and that's just sad :(

Then you understand the capability that custom hardware can have, and you can't be termed as a fanboy. :P
 
I have a hardcore MAC friend, he has everything from desktop, laptop and watch from Apple. He recently said that he cant wait to get back his desktop mac ( idk wtf its called ) back from the repair shop. This fucker had his desktop mac in the repair shop for the 3rd time in the past couple of years and he was thinking of buying the latest one. The sad thing is that he thought that it is normal to get your PC repaired once a couple of years, its not.
I have been using PC's since the early 2000's and I had never had one in a repair shop, although I did have to change the power supply on a couple of them. What i noticed in him is that he is simply clueless when it comes to PC's, as he was bragging that he has a 2.6 GHZ processor...

Love MacBook, you can't tell me otherwise :cool:

Would way prefer a few small problems with a MacBook than having to use a Windows laptop, but saying that on a day-to-day basis I have literally 0 issues with my MacBook and enjoy using it a lot.

(love Linux as well btw, just prefer not to use Windows.. for coding Windows is crap IMO in comparison to Mac)

I have a used one for music production only. Logic Pro X is so much better than any of its counterparts. But other than that there's really 0 reason to get one unless you want specific things out of of Macos

Agreed. I love the simple UI it has. Can't deny that. I am looking for a used mac mini/mac book these days, for that reason (and for a ios simulator too. My current vm setup is pretty slow).

And I can definitely agree that Macs are overpriced, especially when compared to the hardware you get for significantly cheaper in Windows machines.. but if it's a question of which is best irrespective of price then that's different question than which is most cost effective.

(Waiting for someone to say the answer to both of those questions is Windows :confused: lol)
 
I think I've posted this before.

Macs are way overpriced PC's.

You can buy a much better generic computer for the same price.

Their platform is closed, you depend on them for everything, cannot fix or change the hardware in any way.

How Apple is one if the biggest hardware companies is beyond understanding for me.

You could probably do a core upgrade by issuing "sudo apt upgrade" (probably, coz some versions are not compatible with the new core). As for gaming, try steam for linux. I'll admit though that I am not a gamer atall. Try reading this article for some alternatives:

As for Adobe software, well.. Adobe could easily release a version for Linux if they wanted to. I have no idea why they wouldn't want to tap on this segment of customers (probably has to do with having a subscription based software on an open source OS? I dunno). I would probably buy the subscription if they made it available for linux some day.

Other than that, everything runs on Ubuntu... I mean, everything I need..
 
Yes, macbook thermals aren't the greatest, but it's not like all windows laptops have great thermal design.
Apple isn't that expensive either when it comes to high end devices.

imo it really comes down to what OS you prefer. I'm personally a Windows guy, so Mac isn't an option for me, but if I liked MacOS - I don't think Apple products are as overpriced and bad as people act they are. Are they perfect? Hell no. They're average-performing devices with timeless design.
