im interested in hiring an English writer.

im not talking about someone that knows English and can string a sentence together.
I'm talking about someone that can write proper articles good enough to feature on a news agencies website.
in other words, it has to be perfect.

do these people exist on a pay per article basis??
if yes, what's a typical price per article?

Yeah they do, you are looking for actual editors of newspapers/magazines or book authors.

And they are super expensive, at least $40 per 100 to the point it isn't really worth it.

what's an "article"? if it's one sentence is that an article? what about 2000 words? should those cost the same because they are both "articles'?
if you want quality expect to pay at least 5 cents per word.

Depending on the audience and purpose of the content, an investment in quality content is a worthwhile one.

Would you rather spend two dollars per hundred words for low-converting affiliate content or pay more and have articles that can actually compel reader actions and generate a ROI?

Quality as in academic English? Nobody cares for that in a regular online website which showcases random products, trust me, unless you are writing for a lawyer (they usually put their practice students to do that anyway) or you are writing landing pages for businesses/about us etc.

He specifically wants articles so ''decent'' quality of a teacher for example with a better FLOW is the ultimate combo you can get for the type of content he needs, which is WAY harder to pull off than someone who writes unused words in English to show off like most editors (that fall within his budget) do.

It is a very difficult question to answer but there are some very good article writing services here on the forum.
You will never have too far to find them and get a look at their portfolio before hiring them.

As others above say, you need articles that provide an answer or 'solution' to the readers question or problem.
Irrespective of what you pay or where the writer is from, that is what you should be focusing on for now.

Your articles should best be described as conversational in that this is the way that the writing should read.
Just like you having a chat with a buddy over a cold drink discussing a problem and getting the right solution for you, like getting decent content for your site!

Ask yourself the question:
- Do I care just about the quality or where the person lives (aka marketing gimmick US/UK.. writers)?
- If just quality you MAY be able to find some of that caliber you are looking for $3-4/100 words. I say may as just look at countries that have English as the official language then go from there.

It depends on a lot of variables, but expect to pay at least $10 per 100 words for basic news by a proper writer. And it only goes up from there... If you need tight language, good structure, and heavy research, you're now looking at a few hundred dollars for an article of up to a thousand words.

If cost is a concern, then one thing I've found useful for getting good writing on a budget is using foreign writers who can put together a decent article, then fixing up their English myself... Once a good article is in place it doesn't take too much work to fix the language side of it.

You can find many journalism writers out there but you need to keep a high budget.

2. Many people think that non-native or bilingual writers can't do the job as good as native writers.

If you have this notion - please get it off your mind!
There's no such thing!

Usually, people have preconceived notions about non native writers. Do not believe it. Use your own conscience.

Matter of fact, my highest paid writer is a non native writer and to be honest - I haven't find any native writers better than this one yet.
(The writer is Handling a project requiring 1000 words for $1000! Yeah, it ain't no BS!)

3. How to choose a suitable writer?

- Start with Searching for Journalism or English Literature Grads. ( To start this way will be convenient for you but this doesn't mean that writers not having these degrees are not good).

- Contact them and review their samples (You can use tools like prowriting aid to check the quality or keep a proofreader to help you out.)


- Keep some topics handy with you, in case they don't have relevant samples to share with you and ask them to write a one page article for you for free. (Sometimes, you can keep a lower pay for the samples and then tell them that if they are selected then the pay will be higher.)
Likewise, you can review their fresh samples.

You can try and go this way.

I'm a professional writer, and I can tell you .10 cents a word is the minimum for an entry-level writer. I would not take anything less than this even when I needed money. Anyone who does isn't worth your time.

Right now, I charge .50 cents a word as my going rate. Consider this, a New York Times writer gets $1 per word.
