And if and when such domains do expire they end up in aftermarket For Example Snapnames etc. Here it goes for an auction and price ranges here are also more or less the same $5000+ minimum for pronounceable, memorable, brandable short domains.

Once you have acquired such a domain you can list it on brandbucket etc and hopefully you will hit a mini jackpot.

I used to buy and sell many during 2002 to 2010 and some I got for $500 per domain at that time. One of them even got sold for $40,000 in less than 2 weeks.

Nowadays I ignore all low-ball or even normal offers as I am not in a hurry to sell. I had one time around 1500+ domains now I have 80 or so that I like.

Back in those days it was easy with coupon codes and all to renew domains at $1 and $1.99 etc

My average renewal costs were 8000 to 10000 per year.

Nowadays with 80 domains it is $1000 per year.

You can think of brandable names and list them but it's a risk nobody will be interested.
Best method to me is always staying focused on trending news and as soon as a new expression starts to be used by people, on social networks for example, register the corresponding domain asap.

I sold my second domain on flippa. First one was for 200$ the second one for 650$! I'm very happy with flippa And I'm even more happy, that I was able to sell a domain that's less than 1 year old, for 650$.

Know many brokers and all. But I usually sell it off myself as I myself have enough contacts then them LOL

And lots more.

Sometimes, you will need to pitch your domains to the prospective buyers. Look for businesses that can make good use for your domain, mail them and let them see how the name can be an advantage to their business. You're more likely to sell them like that. Though you may need to send lots of mails. But one good sale will make you forget the frustration that comes with that.
