Outranking high DA websites

Hello everyone, I hope you guys are doing well.

Often when I check the SERP to see if the keyword is low or high competition (based on backlinks, DA, PA..etc) I see some high DA websites that are ranking on the first page of google but not for the exact keyword. For example, let's say that I typed "best women's running shoes", and I found out that some high DA websites are ranking for "Best shoes" or "Best shoes for running". Do I have a chance to outrank them if I write an article about "best women's running shoes " knowing that I have a brand new website (less than one year) with a very low DA?

The issue is their site likely has some relevancy to the keyword "best women's running shoes" and google will rank sites based on it.


If you could make a post/page about "best women's running shoes" and provide/include more information than them and your on-page SEO is on point, its do-able, but it takes work.
Once your post is optimized, you'll need to get some backlinks going in a sense.
Check out the site metrics you are competiting agaisn't and you can kind of see what you should be aiming for.


In my opinion, as of late with my own site, I've passed big Authority sites while having like 1-2 backlinks at most on some posts.
If you can include more information than your competitors you should see it going pretty well. But you will likely need to stay on top of it.

Yes! you can outrank them with the quality backlinks, and the quality content that the user wants.

If their content is stale and not engaging enough. You can outrank them with even low DA for long tail KWs. If the competition is on equal level then you will lose.

Google prefers authority over anything else. If you want to rank with a low authority site, then you should better try with easy longtail keywords.

As others mentioned, I think that the main thing would be: quality content, quality backlinks & time.

there are some misunderstanding here
- DA is created by Moz, it does represent Google, so higher DA doesn't mean having a higher ranking
- It also depends on your content, if your content is better, you can rank higher.

You need to check the the no of backlinks and the quality of the content instead of PA, DA

You can definitely beat them, but will need some more content and backlinks to do that
