Jesus... so from 6pm tomorrow my county will be in "lockdown" due to the sudden rise in a short period of time of cases.

Well fuck me if you test more people this will result in more cases. The logic behind half the governments decisions makes no sense at all.

The end.

My country should be on lockdown

Close relative has it. Now the whole bunch is getting tested.

Lockdown like several months ago or lite version?

Its the lite version... no leaving the county unless for work..

EDIT

The restrictions, in place from 6pm on Tuesday, September 22, mean:

  • People will not be allowed to enter or leave these areas without a reasonable excuse, such as travel for work or education.
  • People will only be able to meet outdoors for the time being. People will not be able to meet members of their extended household indoors or form an extended household for the time being.
  • All licensed premises in these areas will have to close at 11pm.
  • Everyone over 11 must wear face coverings in indoor public places – as is the case throughout Wales.

We had this in Spain earlier this year and it worked. Then the tourists all arrived and numbers have spiked again.

Difference outhere was we had police and also in certain areas army on the streets and doing road blocks and if you were out without good reason you were hit with a 500-600 Euro fine.

UK was a £10 fine.

Sadly the dickheads in the UK who protested about having to wear masks, had raves and houseparties etc have screwed it up once again for everyone.

Where is the rule 'junk food and other processed foods in supermarkets replaced with fruits and vegetables'? :anyway:

Yeah I been watching the Bridgend daily count they run on the local news site I think out of 100,000 cases it was between 14-19 before the weekend (depending on the day as they didn't do weekly averages till a Friday!) then over the weekend the cases rose to 29 per 100k I think*.. so because it's seen as a large spike they are wanting to lock us down like the rest of South Wales the only county, not locked down is Cardiff which again if the rest of South Wales is shut why isn't the capital..

* If you speak to anyone about testing locally everyone seems to be going for one because they have the sniffles or woke up with an eye infection. One person went because she had a soar throat... So if more people are being tested then yes the number will spike.

As for fines now... they want to raise it in the UK to £10k

Is the NL border open or closed right now mate?

I was actually considering coming to UK for a bit but it feels like it's on the brink of a proper lockdown of borders. Is the internal lockdown you mentioned throughout Wales or the whole UK?

There are some areas of the UK that have local lockdowns. Wales at the moment I think it's just the south that has these local ones apart from Cardiff..

You can drive to other counties not much police around. There where some stopping cars going into the Rhondda (over the mountain from me) on the weekend just asking what you was doing there but if you drive a van (like me) you give the officer a 'nod' and they just let you go about as if you are a delivery driver - again seems like an easy work around.

I don't think a "proper" lockdown will come yet. They only just got kids back to school they will need to give it a month or two before they do that so it looks like some education has taken place.

Yeah I can't imagine having been midway through schooling when we were young and then just taken a huge portion of months off because of a global pandemic. I'm sure kids are using the internet to supplement their learning during this period though

LOL

Yeah!...

My wife is a teacher year 6 so last class before leaving primary school some of the kids didn't even reply to work she set for the entire 20 weeks. She never heard from them again and they have gone off to comprehensive school now.

My daughter is currently off school until Friday as the "bubble" burst for her year group year 7 first year of secondary school (comprehensive school aka comp) the school has set work via google classroom which she does every morning and then is glued to a tablet for most of the day.

Tried to get her working which gets met with typical early teen resistances.. but she says some of the kids she speaks to have not done anything from the work set.. All types guess school never changed but when the educators are doing only so much to provide work then sorry in these times the issues are with the parents.

It's getting bad all over Europe again. However now some governments seem to try a different approach and they don't want to introduce lockdowns and other strict restrictions unless the situation is very bad. They're even decreasing the time needed to be spent in quarantine. France decreased it to a week, my country just decreased it to 10 days. The "funny" thing is that the situation where i live wasn't anywhere as bad in spring as it is now and a lot stricter restrictions were in place in spring.
if you test more people this will result in more cases
For sure. Positive % of tests is a lot better indicator.

This.

Certain unnamed "nasty" ppl would say it is all just for testing more. The US wanted to be #1 again at something so they tested their way to all these cases and to 200k deaths. If they would have just tested less... /s
